I REALLY need to get around to installing linux. how's compatibility doing now?

Good, all the applications I require run fine on it. For gaming, WINE became pretty good but I am using a virtual machine with GPU passthrough with Windows on it for gaming though.
The problem is that anti-cheat doesn't usually play nice with WINE, because they are pretty much rootkits requiring deep system accesss.

That is a very small minded individual. One of the best raiders in my FC who's cleared O4S as top dps plays on a console, and he loves it compared to PC. With PC, there are a myriad of things that could potentially be running in the background, taking up RAM and CPU space and power, which can cause lag, framerate drops, or just crash the came and force close it. At the same time, if you have an in depth knowledge of Operating Systems and general computer know how, you can generally optimize your PC to play it perfectly, minus however good your actual connection is.

With consoles, you get a consistent, smooth framerate and overall feeling. This is because consoles often divert all of their processes to just running the game, which often leads to very smooth play proved your internet connection is stable/decent. This is why a lot of people I know switched to console from PC. You also get up to 16 hotbar slots for skills and abilities and whatnot, whereas PC players only get 12 standard. Console players also get that cool lock on feature, which makes positionals feel easier for some people because it's something familiar. All in all, I believe very heavily that what you play the game on isn't as important as how well you play the game. If people prefer PC players because of similar mindset and control style, well, PF exists for a reason. I mean, that whole anti-consumer BS is so dumb it's actually funny, but I'm sorry that those players are missing out on what could potentially be a great addition to their party because of a weak reason like that.

TL;DR: Don't let it bother you, in the end they're just people who can't see the diamond in the rough, and will suffer all the more for it. Console has more buttons though, my jealousy is strong.

I didnt played this game on PC but whenever i was looking at, people had many more hotbar buttons displayed on the screen.
Well i guess its even 32 on consoles, because you could easly one click R1 and get acces to the second bar of skills and click R1 again to get back to your most used one bar. :P

I just want to point out if youre using your PC for gaming, most of the time you wont have anything else running to waste resources unless you have the tech know how. Which also means you get better stability and fps IF you have the PC to do so.

Also the hotbars and lock on are on PC as well. I use a controller on PC (i started FFXIV on PS4 and can't not use a controller) and its the exact same as console.

Consoles run everything around your PSN ID. That's built into the game unfortunately. I always thought it was odd FFXIV had to carry that over.

They also have privacy options, unlike FFXIV. You might find it surprising how much data Xbox/PS can obscure, even down to people not showing up in your recent players list. 14 doing that without options seemed extremely archaic to me.

Lot of misinformation here, and some is addressed already, ill just comment what was left out.

For PC, the default is 24, ctrl 1 though = , and alt 1 though =. Gamer mouse settings, I think you can have 36 buttons of access without the need of something like page flipping like you need on a controller. Then if you tap in keybind settings, you have almost unlimited amount of buttons you can trigger with one press of a button.

There is no advantage of performance PS4 has over a PC except of ease of access. At the very bottom end of PCs, consoles have a cheaper upfront cost. However with a little of research, in the long run PCs are cheaper and perform better, then a PS4.

Anyways, you are missing the point completely, the person in question of not inviting consoles had nothing to do with how well one performs. Personally I disagree with that kind of "boycott" since the person already has the console and has no impact to what they want to achieve.

You need people show on the recently played so you can BL and report.

even his crap about the RAM and CPU is really far off. even if firefox derps out after a long youtube session and accumulates like 6GB of RAM usage it's STILL only going to use like 10% of my CPU on top of that and even my rather basic(for 2016 onward) 16GB set of the stuff is going to have so much wiggle room that it doesn't matter. the game isn't using that much. I'm still sitting rather comfortably.

Really, the only thing that's ever threatened a rig of mine with resource hogging is streaming on my old 3570k before I tried overclocking. and then I just figured out what quicksync was and laughed.

Only PSN users can see PSN names, so it's hard to tell for PC users what console they're playing without asking them.

It all boils down to your muscle memory, when i first got my console i wasnt able to do a simple things, now it comes naturally.
Flipping a page on a controller is not a problem, you get a really fast and easy access to 32 buttons on a controller with it or even additional 16 if you want. Imho stretching my finger over a keyboard with ctrl + key or alt + key is the thing that scares me from playing mmorpgs on pc, its just like you are playing yoga with your fingers, bleh.
This particular game has really good controller settings, i dont think anyone playing a console is in disadvantage, if anything he has advantage since he could play for days just lying on the bed. :P
