that would drive me nuts playing that, props to those that can deal with ithttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z70FCfscmyo
hmm...that actually does look pretty smooth. what I've seen of the vanilla ps4's framerate always disgusted me but this is pretty acceptable.
eh, I have severe disdain for the companies that put out the consoles but that's the extent of it. also ReShade handles pretty much my only graphical complaints with XIV.
Only thing I dislike about ps4 players is using that as an excuse over not to communicate with people. Other then that I do not care.
An opinion perpetuated by the fact that the overwhelming majority have never used anything beyond a 60hz display, 60 fps is all you'll ever see because that's as fast as the display can go.
Even 100hz has a substantial impact on something as simple as just swiping a window around the desktop. Give a 144hz+ display a GPU and game combination capable of feeding it and the results are even more profound (Not to mention the latency advantages it brings with it). Don't take my word for it tho, have a play with a new iPad Pro if you get a chance, that too uses a 120hz refresh rate and the UI is buttery smooth as a result.
As for 30 fps, I think it depends on a combination of the game and said person's prior experience. Whilst it grates a bit, I quite happily tolerate Xenoblade 2 dipping into the low 20s at times, it really doesn't affect the gameplay in any real measure. If I was trying to play Overwatch with similar levels of performance, I'd either be throwing up or throwing the thing out the window tho, poor frame rate pacing can really be felt in the responsiveness of the controls in more precise games. The switch port of Doom is an example of this, it's not the end of the world and it's certainly still plenty playable (and highly impressive given the hardware it's running on) but once you've tasted the precision and responsiveness of a high end PC, the switch port just feels like treacle by comparison.
Oh and keeping on topic, I don't really think frame rate drops are much of an issue for FFXIV, raids generally run quite well on the PS4 afaik? I assume it's open world fates and such that are the main problem?

Haha, the guy complaining about anti-consumer is probably running botnet Windows 10.
But it's true, I rather see consoles die too, they are anti-consumer, but to bar console players from joining the party yeah... nice meme.
II rather see everyone running Linux/BSD, but Microsoft is heavily preventing people from doing so by paying off developers and universities, and creating closed source API's (DirectX .NET etc)
I just keep playing FFXIV on linux with a GPU passthrough VM.

I have both a PC and a standard PS4. While I agree that the PC version runs a bit smoother than the standard ps4, even though I recently got the former for Christmas, the frame rate doesn't bother me much on the latter because I haven't experienced lag from the console itself, sometimes from the cable company. And in my opinion, a person's experience doesn't come from from a console's power, but from how well you know the game, like the mechanics, the boss(es), other players, strat(s) (if there is more than one strategy to completing something), and your job(s), how often you do a certain thing, and how often you play.
I REALLY need to get around to installing linux. how's compatibility doing now?Haha, the guy complaining about anti-consumer is probably running botnet Windows 10.

Anti-consolevatism and PCberalism exists in Eorzea. What a realm reborn.I saw a pf made, which specified pc players only and when I asked why I got this response :
It made me feel kinda sad really. Some people may not have the funds or technical knowledge to keep a pc up-to-date, and there are other reasons too. I did wonder how they intended to vet party members, and if their disgust stretched far enough to stop them playing roulettes.
