Make everything like Aurum Vale. Have sections where if you fall into a hole, you die. Put some spikes across the room so that if someone trips over them, they get bound (like in Hullbreaker I think and that one Guildhest).

Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
I would actually love this. I got so excited in FFX when we got to the bit with the zombies and Yuna was able to fight things!
That gave me a thought - imagine if, when we got knocked off Titan's tower, we were able be revived but had to jump-puzzle climb back up to the top to rejoin the fight?
...I'm not sure it's a good idea, but an idea nevertheless.
Who let Satan, Lucifer and friends out of hell?
Hang on I'm sorry what do you mean "finally able"I would actually love this. I got so excited in FFX when we got to the bit with the zombies and Yuna was able to fight things!

Yuna is FFX's god. I got her to the point her auto attacks hit harder than the rest of the party, and Ultima hit the second damage cap.
Can't have dungeon trash require actual thought or, heavens forfend, crowd control abilities
Erm..... it's been ages since I played FFX, but didn't Yuna not have any offensive spells for a lot of the game? (Outside of summons, of course.) I just remember it was great to suddenly be able to use her healing spells to defeat enemies instead of being 'just the healer'.
...not that there's anything wrong with being the healer (WHM is one of my main classes), just a bit limiting in a party of three to have a specialised healer.

The old traditional 'healing/white magic injures undead trick' which has been a part of the series since forever just about. However, I don't really see SE adding this much here for two important reasons. Firstly, the elemental wheel has been extensively neutered so elements do not really play a part as far as controlling damage rates in battle go (not to mention there is no true 'holy' element in this game either - there is the 'astral' alignment, but that's less an 'element' and more just whether something is at one end of the pendulum or the other), making white magic/healing spells/items damaging undead enemies moot (given white magic is meant to be traditionally 'holy' which is why it damages undead in the first place).Something like Gerogero/Fake President from FFVIII where enemies are required to be healed to 'die' in addition to dealing with normal dungeon boss mechanics. Given the amount of tunnel vision healers we have in this game such an inclusion would definitely be sadistic. (Seriously though, I'm not advocating for this. The mere idea gives me a full body shudder.)
The second reason is sheer pragmatism on SE's part - FFXI featured healing magic damaging undead and it worked very well... until a notorious bug occurred circa 2008 where it was discovered that for some reason even simple Cure spells (as in, Cure I) were dealing hundreds of thousands of HP worth of damage to undead, and, human nature being what it is, inevitably players exploited that for all it's worth, taking down notoriously difficult undead NMs with ease. SE quickly found the bug, patched it, and ended up banning those they determined had been exploiting the bug after examining server logs, but the damage was done (to use a pun).
No doubt a desire to avoid such a potential problem from occurring again here in FFXIV was on SE's minds when ARR was developed and hence probably played a role in their decision to not make healing spells/healing items 'holy' and able to damage undead. 'This is why we can't have nice things' and all that.
Either way, I do not see SE reversing this decision I'm afraid.
Back on topic though, the most sadistic mechanic I can think of for a dungeon in general? Permadeath that also deletes your account completely. Can't get more hardcore than that.![]()
