So just because the seasonal items were available in the game, its ok to have $18 outfits just in time for Stormblood? If anything it plays to her point because not they are gating more content that was in the game at one point. You do realize that the vast majority of items in the Cash shop were at one point available in-game, right? Insinuating that all 183 items are all content designed exclusively for the cash shop is incorrect.
As for your signature, you're way too upset about this. Maybe you should take a few steps back to simmer down.
If you don't like the price, don't pay it. I personally think it's too expensive, so I am not going to buy it. Obviously judging by the amount of Carbuncle mounts I have seen + the outfit, many people don't agree with you.
Sound’s pretty “me-me-me” mentality to me. At least the bolded parts do.Yep putting my hands over my eyes and going "lalalalala" whenever I hear a mount whistle totally makes it so that the mog station isn't being rubbed in my face! 100% completely ignored! It's like there isn't over $1000 worth of content gated away from me!. . . .
And yes "this boils down" to me being angry that once again my gameplay experience is valued less than someone who could play this game on a spreadsheet and have fun.. . . .'Cause no amount of fussing over my opinion is going to stop me from, sometime in the future, determining that this game costs more than its worth.
If people think the $18 carbuncle outfits are too much, it’s quite simple what you do: don’t buy them.
As for the outfits in general, I fail to see how they have actively prevented new outfits/glamour items to be added into the game. And this is regards to all the outfits in there: from NPC to the Chinese/Korean outfits (which, the players in China and Korea had to pay real money for those, too, so any asking for them to added or JP/NA/EU for free is the definition of entitled) to the Carby outfits.
I feel you’re talking specifically about the Fuga Attire here based on your “before Stormblood dropped” comment—after Stormblood dropped, guess what? Not only was there the Taoist outfit added in as a crafted recipe, but the Ao Dai and the Autumn dress/shirts as well after Lost Canals dropped. 2 FULL brand new outfits (one of which was in extremely high demand), a dress, and a shirt for each gender added as crafted recipes in-game versus the one Fuga Attire.

I'd throw a fit if SE started gating cosmetics behind loot boxes similar to ESO or other games, but that isn't the case.
Because their B2P model is designed in such a way, that they'll expect a certain amount of revenue to be made through microtransactions. IE: Loot boxes, as well as the first two "expansions" with Destiny 2 (which seem to be $20 each.) This means that they don't expect every player to be buying things in their cash shop, but hope it'll attract enough players that'll buy something here and there (or if they're lucky, attract a few whales that'll spend a lot of money.).
Then there's also Destiny 2, that tried to make expansion purchases mandatory, by locking base game content behind expansion gear levels.
XIV's P2P model is mostly designed around the fact that players pay a set amount per month (whether entry or normal subscriptions), while additional retainers and microtransactions are extra revenue.
Do they need it? Nope, but it allowed them to use that extra money to move the EU servers to a datacenter located in the EU, as well as the NA datacenter move.
Lo, and behold, reddit got you covered.
Yes - and come to the forums to vent about it.
Because...
As such, we probably should make a consolidated cash shop complaint thread at some point to bump whenever something new is added. It might not be sustained year-round, but it happens often enough to warrant one.
While I stand by my post about ranting from time to time, there’s ranting, and then there’s acting like that one poster who is getting extremely bent out of shape and basically demanding that everything be as such to satisfy them. If they honestly feel like this game is worth “too much” with all the optional content on top of subscription/expansion fees, or that it’s “not worth enough” because said optional content is not available to them for free, then perhaps it is time for them to sit back and consider if they still want to actually continue on with the game.
Also helps when they aren’t just outright vitriolic towards people that disagree with them.
There is also a huge difference between venting about a crappy DF run (which is what my quote about ranting is actually about—and it is in response to the same person who claimed that anyone who “gets angry on a forum” is “the person with the problem”, so context is also important there), and the types of rants I see about the cash shop, or even external DLC in general. Being upset about it is fine, but claim it as fact that the Mogstation is “taking away from content in-game” (especially when there are more mounts/glamours added directly into the game as opposed to the cash shop), to call people that want to spend their money on vanity items names, or claiming said people are “enabling” some “P2W formula” is a bit crossing the line, in my opinion.

They stopped short? Wheres the ruby, diamond, and Onyx versions? As long as they keep putting stuff as good looking as this in the cash shop they're always going to find people willing to fork over $$$ for it. Hate it if you want, but it's good business and SE is in the business of making $$$.
