It's the most content light patch I've ever seen, and I don't think I've ever had this little to do in game and it's pretty rare my friends are around. This patch had some really nice bit of content but nothing padding it out.

Uh, 3.1 wants to have a word with you about that. And slashing the glamour items? We literally just had a Christmas mount. You're assuming the Carbuncle mount was going to be free originally but SE decided to abruptly charge money. That isn't the case. It was always designed with the cash shop in mind. They wouldn't have made at all if they weren't going to make a profit. Regardless, a mount has absolutely nothing to do with a weak patch.

This is an opinion. You think it’s “the worst patch the game has ever seen”; others would probably argue that 3.1 was the worst. Subjective; opinion, not fact. 4.1 is weak, yes, but whether or not it’s “the worst patch” is a subjective matter.
That being said, if you are so disgusted by the Carbuncle Mounts, no one is forcing you to buy them, and it won’t make or break your game to own them or not own them. It’s not at all surprising that they were made for sale outside of the game—if it hadn’t been the cash shop, it would have been tied to external merchandise/apparel.
And to whoever said the outfits are P2W because they have stats on them: yes, those outfits are really going to help me win in this game’s hardest content ever: Sastasha. Because anyone wearing that gear above level 15 are doing nothing but gimping themselves, so they won’t be “winning” anything.

Damn, what a train wreck of a thread. Where to start...
First of all, please stop with the "oh, it gives +2 to some stats, so it can be used to give an advantage! This is P2W!" This is the weakest argument I have probably EVER heard! The only things in the Mogstation that you could argue might be P2W, are the jump potions and MSQ skips. And even then, it's kind of a stretch. Sure, they allow you to bypass a lot of grinding that you otherwise would have had to do (especially as a DPS job), but they both come at a disadvantage. MSQ skippers will have no idea what happened in the story, and jump potion users won't have the same sense of accomplishment that players who leveled from 1-70 have (regardless of whether they care about it or not).
Now I saw a lot of people trying to compare FFXIV to GW2. And you know what? I get it! I think GW2 is A MUCH better game than FFXIV. A lot of its aspects are far ahead. I mean, just look at the inventory system, dyeing system, open-world content, living world content, etc. And all of that FREE from monthly subscriptions! WHAT THE ****?! So I can almost understand people feeling upset about Square-Enix charging us further for additional content like this on a subscription-based game.
HOWEVER... (and here's the real important part)
It's not worth arguing about. It's pointless. And here is why:
Remember when Ixion came out? Hundreds of players on the same map, farming to get a mount. You only got 2 tokens at the time, and you needed 12. People would spend hours and hours flying around the map, keeping track of the spawn times, etc. All so that they could get the glorious... MAJESTIC... IXION MOUNT! Then Square-Enix decides to make things easier, and now you only need to kill Ixion twice to get it.
Now, let me ask you this - how often do you use the Ixion mount? Like seriously, please, think about it - how often do you use the mount you worked so hard for. And by the way, it's also the same mount HUNDREDS OF OTHER PLAYERS also worked very hard for and have. Oh wait, what's that? You use it all the time? Really?
But... wait, now there's this new Carbuncle mount. You still gonna use your Ixion that you worked so hard to get? No? WELL THERE'S MY POINT!
If you really want the new Carbuncle mount and are so butt-hurt that you have to pay actual money for it, please consider just how many other EXTREMELY COOL mounts there are in this game, and how you probably don't even use any of them even though you have them. Think of all those PvP matches you put yourself through to get some dumb horse you don't even use. Think about all those farm parties you joined for a chance to get a stupid bird... that you don't even use. Or the MGP you saved up for over a year to get a flying wolf... which YOU DON'T EVEN USE!
Oh but sure... Carbuncle is gonna be different. Carbuncle you're gonna use all the time, right? lol Gimme a break. xD

I use my PVP warhorse every chance I get

not sure why you are so salty Blue, I'd quite like the Carby mount as it cute although I'd be more interested in the gear as the game as really cut back on the in-game glamours and I'd like a new mage glamour. I don't fully get your point I like to have things to do in game and having some interesting to aim for is a nice focus. I've got lots mounts I really use but it's nice to have them to mix things up also I'd probably have used Carby a lot as it looks really cute.
In a way, I kind of am salty, but for more complicated reasons. I'm definitely not salty about the new Carbuncle mount, but I wish people would stop complaining about it. My point is that it's pointless. People complain about having to pay for the mount, when the reality is that, were they to get it:
1. They most likely won't use it as much as they think. With some probably even forgetting that they got it after a single week. I've seen this happen with people who farmed the PvP horse and the Phoenix mount.
2. A lot of people are going to have it. Even if you ARE planning to use it all the time, wouldn't it feel kinda lame being in the same mount as everyone else? Wouldn't you rather be original? This is why I used Ixion as an example earlier.
3. This game doesn't have any worthwhile open-world content, and you can't use mounts in cities. Ask yourself if it's really worth getting a mount you will probably only ever use inside housing maps. lol
As for the main reason I'm salty, read my earlier post when I compared this game to GW2. I'm salty because we could be getting a lot more, but we don't.
I think you missing the point. Its not about how much people use items...im pretty sure that no one uses EVERY mount they get all the time. The point is that SE decided they wanted more money and they are making you pay extra for it. Its not enough to pay your sub, or for the game or for SPACE TO PUT YOUR IN-GAME ITEMS (no one ever address that we pay for space in a sub game) but now they are putting exclusive emotes, outfits, mounts and housing items in the cashshop. Fact is I dont like this mount at all..the point is people shouldn't have to come out of pocket this much for a game that ask for a montly sub from millions of players.
