Howver you consider all the package of a job not only those that you consider relevant when you discuss a job, as said all jobs won't drop their buff if they do their rotation correctly but HT even though is on a rotation basis really it's doing nothing but beign a maintenance buff that as I said SE apparently think is annoying enough to nerf it so that it is not as painful if you dropI do agree the "splitting the info source" made things harder, not easier (like some are buffs you track on your buff bar, some on the gauge, wth)
But in the particular case of HT, the thing is : it is your rotation. Doing it right means you actually don't need to track it like at all, cause you just know it's there : you did your rotation.
Other self buffs that are not in a rotation you have to keep track of it, that's why they thought it was a good idea to put it on a gauge. Yet we managed to track those things on buff bars for 4 years, so it's still time to go back and remove things like that from gauge. i mean WAR don't have the self buff on the gauge and they're fine, because it's in their rotation.
Also : yes I did not talk about AoE situations because they are mostly irrelevant (or rather, they occur on mostly irrelevant content where dropping it is no big deal)
I really fail to understand while ppl are so against about this idea because it isn't so drastic in changing anything but simply makes informations easier to read which benefits EVERYONE
Yeah I'm also thoroughly impressed by that, Remedi. It's incredible how many people don't even bother reading the thread. What is the point of threads/forums if you're not going to at least read it???
Apparently I need to say this again, since it didn't sink in the first time:
So, during AoE rotation it's very easy to get lost in spam and forget heavy thrust.
Furthermore, the other maintenance buffs like Straight Shot and Hot Shot are on the gauges. The mere fact that Heavy Thrust is not on the gauge is not only inconsistent, but short-sighted. This should be addressed.
AoE situations are not "irrelevant", it is by their very nature to upkeep heavy thrust. What does that even mean? It is never not a big deal to lose 10% damage because not paying attention.
There is a distinct difference between set rotation upkeep and priority rotation upkeep. You need the quick at-a-glance look when it comes to timers such as Astral Fire, Hot Shot, or Straight shot, where as Heavy Thrust is always applied first, which is extrapolated to 'Always before the CT combo".
There is no room for another 5 combo in Dragoon's timers, so it's not "Can I do this combo before heavy thrusting again?"
It's "Just did Full Thrust, now it's Heavy Thrust into Chaos Thrust again."
I can't speak much on MCH, but BRD does not have a streamlined, set rotation like DRG does. Comparing a BRD's rotation (and maintenance buff Straight Shot) to a DRG and Heavy Thrust isn't really a fair comparison. HT has a set spot in a DRG's rotation--Straight Shot does not have that in a BRD's rotation.
About your comment regarding AOE situations--mobs should not be living past 30 seconds. If they are, the DPS is extremely low. If you cannot keep up with a buff on your buff bar because you're only half-watching it, how do you expect to keep up with it on a gauge you will also only be half-watching?
Adding this to my previous post (because daily post limit....), but I never said I was for or against it. I was saying you cannot compare Heavy Thrust to Straight Shot because they are not the same. HT has its set place in a rotation; SS does not. And, again, DPS arguments aside, if you can't watch the buff on your buff bar in the midst of AOE spam, how is the gauge going to help you? If visibility is the issue, you can increase the size of elements to 200% now. I would suggest doing that if it's just a visibility/noticability thing.whether or not it should or shouldn't happen is irrelevant; this is FFXIV where the duty finder is full of 123 DRGs and bards who spam heavy shot with no songs. Trust me, "DPS shouldn't be that low" is solid logic, but should never be a standard.
All I'm asking for is the exact same looking gauge as the straight shot thing, I'm sure they could knock out developing that in less than 2 hours, fam. It's hardly "taking away resources". Like Remedi said, it's staggering to see people so vehemently opposed to something that will only really benefit them (or at LEAST not hinder them).

I do read, you just don't like the answers cause they don't go your way.
As Hyomin expressed way better than I did : shouldn't happen. with our item level adds should be burning. Anyway, every 5 AoE combos, you HT
Yes, there is inconsistency, and I did grant that in my previous comment.
What I disagree with, is that it is NOT a maintenance buff like those of ranged, because DRG is a set rotation type, not a priority type, like Kabooa said. So HT is ON the rotation, while there is no rotation on Ranged, in the sense of : you can't know when HS or SS are to fall off, could be after a clean shot ? after a refulgent ? For DRG, HT always ends after FT combo and that's it. No room for anything else after 70.
So consistency is not an absolute necessity here. Why are we arguing for longer that it could take the dev to put the option you'll say ? Because with unimportant changes like this one we lose sight of real issues (not with DRG, but in general). Devs have limited attention span, and don't seem to have a strong quality testing and implementation process with checklists and all, I'd rather they focus on absolute needed changes like BLM and DRK, then when it's done, to re open the subject.
whether or not it should or shouldn't happen is irrelevant; this is FFXIV where the duty finder is full of 123 DRGs and bards who spam heavy shot with no songs. Trust me, "DPS shouldn't be that low" is solid logic, but should never be a standard.

Who knows, maybe they will. But isn't there an idea box where to put that ? To let them see the issue.
IS there an idea box?? I thought the forums here WAS the idea box.
Was the same thing with the job gauge colorblind fix a few weeks back, that thread even got a direct CM member response.
I understand where you're coming from in that SS can't be compared to Heavy Thrust: but this part of your argument is where I have to pick at. Couldn't this specific part of your argument also be applied to SS and Hot Shot?
I think so long as people are given the option to keep it visible on their buff bar, this is just a requested UI customization that would help some people. For me, in all cases of buffs that have time remaining, it's easier for me to keep a bar in my peripheral than a number.
I'll admit: if it were up to me, I'd have every self buff represented some way on the job gauge. Hell, at the same time I'd have something to verify that ones own debuffs are up on the boss so that in the case of a 24 man boss my own debuffs don't get lost in the sea. At the same time, I'd also have them still represented on the buff bar, and completely optional elements for the people who prefer them on the buff bar.
