Because as long as they clear at the end (even with just 5 sec left) its not wasted time?
I would be fine with it. I enter any duty with assumption it could take full time. Anything less is a bonus to me.

I personally try not to assume the worst of people I haven't met yet. I understand that's a rare mentality to stick to in this day and age though...

I haven't abandoned leveling content once, unless someone says "nope aurum vale" and leaves at start. People are thinking the rare cases of being bad are so much worse and frequent than they really are.

The real subjects that tend to come up with this tend to be EX-level pugs. People complain because they can't find decent farm parties, or if the primal is hard enough, clears.
Regrettably, there are things in this world that happen even though you don't see them personally.

Somehow I have a really hard time to believe that you would be fine with it each and every run. Are you alright with this if you are in a farm group? Wiping the whole 60 minutes in one trial? I mean people have a different amount of time that they can play the game. I am not sure if someone would love a full run if the only have like 2 hours per day to play. (Half of the time would be gone just for one trial.) I mean I have no problems if that happens sometimes (at least in 24 man runs) but each time?

About the sport argument: Honestly there is a difference with just being fans that are watching something and you playing it. As a fan it would be kinda strange not to know some things but you are still just watching it. But the examples that were posted did not mean just watching but meeting to play it. Thats a huge difference. So yes if you are just a fan you might not need to know the basics (but why would you be a fan if you dont even understand it?) but as soon as you start playing it with others you need the knowledge. I wish I could see a situation where the ones that are arguing against at least the basic would watch something where some players dont play it good (in real life sport). Why do I have the feeling that they would dislike it?

@RiyahArp: But just because you did not see someone that bad does not mean that they dont exit. I did write a post about the one monk who did not have any basic idea of their job..and the 200 DPS BLM. They thankfully are not the majority but honestly I still have enough people in the few runs I do that are just not good and that only manage to clear it thanks to the rest of the party..(thankfully paladins have some self heals..)

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
