    thats the way it was in Final Fantasy 11 and is in Final Fantasy 14, too.
    i tried it out myself. (especially on elementals)

    goats for example are stone type and are weaken against wind. fire elementals are weaken against water... so thats the "elemental resistance table" we have in FF14 :

    Fire>Ice>Wind>Earth>Thunder>Water>Fire
    I've tried it out, too. It's two separate elemental wheels. Water does nothing to Fire, it's to earth. And wind beats fire (try using water on Amal'jaas, which are actually earth-based--does some good damage).

    To the OP: I like having non-standard things that don't break the game. It has two separate elemental wheels, one Astral and one Umbral. I think it's a nice change and takes literally nothing to get used to.

    true you're right. i dont play FFXIV not right now. maybe i forgot about that ;O ^

    its that way:

    in FFXI the difference was, that Wind beated Earth
    And Water beated fire.

    now its wind -> fire
    and water -> earth

    That isn't true, though. In one wheel you have Fire, Wind, and Earth, which is two astral elements and one umbral, and the other wheel is the opposite.

    With XI's elemental wheel, the astral and umbral elements would all be spaced one apart from each other and form perfect triangles. IMO that'd look a lot nicer.
