This is probably the most stupid suggestion i've read on this forum over the years, and that says alot.

Nothing justify me having to pay 1M gil per month for my Large house FC and another 1M for my private mediums on my main and my wifes account.

It's not about the gil, I have plenty but having to pay a month sub AND now paying rent. It's laughable.

You do not have my support.

You clearly didn't read the whole post, where it was stated that not only were those numbers just examples, but also that there should be a method to pay that isn't just gil. People should be able to easily afford the rent just by doing what they enjoy in the game, PvE, PvP, etc. Hell, even Gold Saucer could be an option.

This would be unfair for alot of casual players with houses. You're kind of holding a person accountable to a certain playtime or commitment each month to keep the gil flowing. Alot of people saved for ages to buy a house, and then emptied it all to buy one. I see no pro's to this, only negatives and unneeded time and resources that could be put towards more meaningful stuff. Once a house is owned it is to be enjoyed, not stressed out over. " Hey wanna do this raid? " " No...I can't. Need to craft a little more to make sure I have enough gil to pay my rent for the month on the house I........ purchased?"

Again, you didn't read the whole post (it was three different posts, since there is a text limit). I specifically stated, even just went back and put it in bold, that there should be other methods, other than gil, to pay for the house rent/upkeep/maintenance. Going out and doing raids should be a way to get a currency to pay for it. Doing pvp should give a currency that can pay for it, etc. Less than 4 hours of game play a week should be enough to pay for it.

I think the best solution would be for SE to make enough houses for ALL players to have a house. Not to make people constantly have to maintain payments.

Then you would need to add grinding out gil, gc seals, etc to the list of to-do's and housing would become a burden. Once you get a house, you should be able to keep that house, end of story.

Rent for a house in an mmo is hilariously ridiculous. We don't need a never-ending, continuous grind for what should be a standard.

Also I don't have a house, so don't think its because I don't want to lose my own. It's SE fault we are in this mess, why penalize the players for something that's due to developer oversight and lack of proper planning. They should be able to accommodate their playerbase and need to learn to plan ahead.

They need to listen to the playerbase and introduce instanced housing, which is something people have been clamoring for since before housing was even a thing. Their insistence on sticking with their guns and going wards only is hurting them more than anything.

Ok, then let me go ahead and just prepay 50m so I'm set for the next few years and not have to worry about auto demo. Next.....lol

I don't really like any form of auto demolish or upkeep (even though I do understand the need in the current housing situation), but I definitely like your idea better than what SE is doing atm. I always hated how they force you to stay subbed, if you want to keep your house, even if you know in advance you're not gonna be able to play.
It even encourages people to share their account info (which is prohibited by the Tos too). Imagine I'm going to be out of country for like half a year. I can't take my ps4 with me, what would I do to keep my house? Not only would I be forced to keep paying for a service I can't use, I'd have to ask someone I trust to log in and reset the timer, or lose my house I worked hard for. I wouldn't need to do any of that, if I could just pay in advance.

It's funny because the housing wards as it is with active subs are mostly dead, I see more activity in the cities by the MB than I do in any of the housing wards.

Armchair psychologist time. I think the reason people really want one is because there's not enough to go around, so they can say they were good enough or fast enough to get one. If there's a house for everyone most of the houses would be empty because not everyone cares about housing, not everyone can afford one and they really don't serve much of a purpose outside of showing you had enough gil and were on at the right time to get one, or maybe RP.

I don't disagree with you, and I think you do make a good point. That being said, if a system like this were put in, it should never feel like a grind. If anything, it should just be a modest sink of currencies most people already have overflowing. The numbers should be negligible, but enough that wholly inactive players might have to think twice about keeping their unused trophy home, or single player houseflipper FCs might have a harder time keeping their houses. It's a rough concept, but an idea I think could be in some ways helpful, at least until they decide that housing no longer needs to be a finite resource.

Honestly, if you have the resources for it? More power to you. Maybe put a cap on it, nothing more than 6 months in advance, but it would help a lot of people when it comes to struggling with RL issues/not being able to log in, and the auto-demo feature.

I know the concept as a whole of having to pay any kind of upkeep fee for a house is unpleasant for most, it’s not even one I like suggesting, but things like your post are the exact reason I think this sort of system could actually be very handy for the player. Until they make a better system at least.

It’s the “F-u, got mine” mentality. It’s why there needs to be some sort of upkeep fee, so people aren’t just hoarding completely unused houses for no reason other than status. If they had to actually work to keep the house, other than logging in once a month and running inside, maybe they would think twice about buying/keeping that house.

As a side note, this text limit is killing me.
