    Lootmaster:Should it be abolished

Most people I know are hesitant to join a loot master party because they have or know people that have been in parties where the starter gets their bird or dog then disbands the party. Does this feature cause more issues than it helps or is it actually useful? What are your thoughts?

I feel like it serves no purpose. If you want to give something to friends then just pass for them. Lootmaster only exists to scam people IMO.

I actually won my Susano dog in a Lootmaster party. Same with my Ravana bird. So I've never experienced the LM scams that people say are so pervasive. My old static used Lootmaster to allocate upgrade tokens like the Glazes and Twines to make sure they were distributed fairly amongst members so that people weren't just rolling on them every week and taking them from people who needed them (this did happen a few times, hence why the LM).

If people don't like Lootmaster parties, then they can just make their own, non-Lootmaster PF instead, I feel. People usually complain about LM farms being the only farm group up for a particular piece of content, but there's nothing stopping them from just making their own.

It's better to never trust those parties.

the starter gets their bird or dog then disbands the party.
    Better safe, than sorry.
p.s. I know people, who experienced an LM party scam. Sometimes they are not alone, but brings 1-2 friends with them, they get birds/etc, then leave.

When they buff drop rates its fine but when you willing join dog farm lootmaster that has 2%-5% drop rate atm, just looking gullible.

Personally I dont join LM-mount-farm-parties because I dislike the attitude behind that. However: Since everyone has the choice to either join or not join such a party and, if there are only LM-parties up, make their own, I dont see an issue with offering that option.
We had "LM"-parties before there was LM as an actual option - people had to just agree on passing on specific items (and if someone didnt that caused a lot of issues too...)

There are also situations when LM can be helpful - when its not for something everyone can use, but actual weapon/gear farm for example, to ensure the right person gets the right weapon. (I think it was a T13 party I was in once and everyone was allowed to pick a weapon they wanted. The partyleader made a macro with a list and also set the whole thing to LM, to make sure no one would roll on something they didnt claim).
Its a tool that can really be used both ways - and in the end it comes down to people breaking agreements, which can actually be a reportable issue.
And while I personally dont like LM and dont doubt that people have had bad experiences with such parties, I also know that some folks prefer that way of farming by now (or else the parties wouldnt fill up in the first place). So no, its actually something the community asked for and wanted. The whole concept of "first drop reserved" and such existed before LM was a thing and the feature just gives people a way to enforce such agreements.

I disagree with this statment - if you've got 8 people, all intrested in different items in a party, it can be difficult not to lose track over who wanted which item now and which are free to grab. Having one person (with a little list) in charge is actually useful there.

It definitely serves a purpose when people go into a party with a unified goal.

There will always be people that abuse whatever system you put in place.

That doesnt mean it needs to be abolished. I for one, even tho I typically don't use it and leave things up to chance, feel its still good to have.

My static started using lootmaster because there have been multiple times when we needed a sub and they would agree to pass on twine/coffer but they roll on it anyway (and every single time they won the roll). To make matters worse, it was always someone who couldn't carry their own weight.

My old static did use LM the few times we had to sub in people. And we let them know both in the PF description and before we queued in what was going on, and if they didn’t like it, they were free to leave and we would find someone else. Most were okay with it, except one person who threw a fit over it after agreeing to the “terms and conditions” because a piece of loot dropped that they wanted. Sad thing was, they were on SAM and were doing sub-3k DPS. So I feel ya.

Then you would be left with no way of designating loot among strangers without trusting all of them to do the right thing, a situation 7x worse than the one you started with. Better to just lead a LM group yourself or avoid them altogether if trust is an issue.
