Death of the casual crafter "Please look forward to it"

Well with the app coming "Soon" the MB is gonna be pretty much worthless. Every server prices will drop so low wont be worth making any items.
I know crafters who all ready craft in bulk making 20 of each items storing them in retainers and putting them up as they sell. now that we will be able to spend $$ and access the MB from your phone. making gil will truly suck even more.

I can see it now log in for 1 day to craft 6 days off playing other games wile people just restock and under cut via phone. so stupid SE

Eh, People rose the same complaint when WoW did the same thing, and you know what? It didn't actually happen like that. I can understand the prediction, but in actual practice, the economy stayed pretty much the same. The tryhards were still pushing ridiculous quantities of goods, only slightly easier. The tryhards competed against each other using the phone apps, while your average joe didn't really see much of a difference because your average joe couldn't compete with the tryhards anyways, with or without the phone app.

The only people really affected are the said tryhards, and if you're a tryhard, then get a phone and join the rest of them, or go from being a tryhard to an average joe.

"Casual Crafters" never could make it in this game, or any other game for that matter. If you really wanted to make good money, you had to put a lot of effort into it (kinda like RL, right?). If you weren't willing to put the effort in, to actually make money, then you simply didn't make a whole lot of money fast. But then, on the flipside, if you WERE willing to put effort in to make money through crafting, then you certainly weren't a "casual" crafter.

EDIT: I mean absolutely no offense by any terms used within this post, and none of the terms used here should be taken to mean anything derogatory. There's nothing wrong with being a casual, a tryhard, or an average joe. These are simply words used to describe groups of people and are not meant with any malice whatsoever.

Perhaps you need to find a different term to "tryhard" then? It's an inherently negative term as far as I'm aware - putting unnecessary effort into something that doesn't matter. (Which arguably is what we're all doing pouring our time into a videogame, but still, not right in context of participating in the game.) Maybe "dedicated" is the word you're looking for?

It's going to be business as usual I think. The people who are super gung-ho about crafting and playing at being Eorzean supply & outfitter tycoons will now have a tool to help them do that, and the rest of us will keep doing what we've been doing. The only real change we might see is people moving some gil around and putting things up for sale more frequently, hardly anything to get excited over. Also... those crazy people who basically control the boards? They're online in some capacity almost 24/7 anyway, whether they're physically present or not. The app is not going to change those behaviours.

Forum etiquette tip: don't drop into threads just to critique someone's post for phrasing and grammar. If you don't have anything relevant to say about the topic in the OP or contribute to the on-going discussion, please don't post. It's rude and meaningless to just pop in, tell someone they're dumb/wrong/could phrase things better, then leave without making any sort of contribution to the discussion at-hand.

Take a deep breath. The world is not over. It'll be okay.

I'm not certain why you feel like someone crafting 1 day a week to fill 6 days of sales is somehow different from that person doing the same stuff all 7 days. IMO (with the way endgame crafting is atm) you're actually better off with having less crafters in the game at any one time and people who undercut will always undercut. There's no changing that.

I consider myself to be a casual crafter, and this will have zero effect on me. I don't fill up my retainers, and don't check every day to reprice items. If the app is user friendly, I might choose it over the clunky controller interface and do more business on the MB.

Honestly, I leveled up my crafters so I can make my own stuff rather than spending a fortune on MB.

I think the MB will reach an equilibrium. There will be hardcore crafters who monitor the MB 24/7 to maintain their grip on the market. But for the rest of players, it is probably business as usual. Log in, check retainers, send them out and go play the game.

MB become worthless? If that means I can do my own crafting? Great....don't got a problem with it.

The MB is a rip off anyway. You get charged overkill prices for things that can be had if you had the ability to craft anyway.

I'm an omnicrafter but I don't use apps much and won't be devoting my life to undercutting someone by 1 gil on the MB even if this app lets me.

Sorry, I meant it in the best possible way - since Maeka specifically said she isn't wanting to offend anyone by that terminology, then I thought it worthwhile to suggest an alternative to, as I said, an inherently negative term that they are trying to use in a non-negative way.
