Possibly, but the bots are still there. There's actually quite a few and you can see them often enough teleporting around in Ul'dah. They don't spam us with messages, but they're still gil sellers. But we really haven't had gil spammers since maybe 2.1 or 2.2.

On Balmung I don't imagine there would be, if it's been locked that long.
A couple members of the FC I'm in just made some new characters on Omega (I think?) and said the spammer plague is still very much alive and well. I personally don't know and can't say because the last time I saw them was when I was still on Leviathan, but since coming to Balmung at the beginning of 3.0 I haven't gotten a single tell/shout/friend request from them. I do see clusters of bots here and there farming things, but no spammers.

I have my blacklist maxed out, so they were there at some point. Not dealing with them is nice, but having to have locked server to keep them out isn't fun. I haven't met EVERYONE on our server, there's quite a few people, but it's nice to have new people coming in.

I do remember my time on Levi, and how my blacklist was constantly maxed out. To the point where once a week I had to go through and removed all the "(deleted)"s from it to make more room. Some of my old screenshots have that macro I used to insta-BL the last person to send me a tell.
Don't get me wrong, there isn't anything really wrong with new players, and I welcome that, it's just that there's already a ton more people here than anywhere else. While yes, the do offer incentives for people to transfer off Balmung to somewhere else, I don't feel they're enough, and it's why people aren't really leaving. Waiving the transfer fee, lifting the restriction on transferred gil, and 2/3 of a Twintania mount really don't provide much incentive, since nothing is really gained compared to what you'd potentially be losing (FC, friends, etc).
