Its not necessarily a server issue, but a network one. You've seen people mass DC during Odin? Thats not because the servers can't handle it, thats because player machines can't handle the amount of players in the area.

Strange how People get 90002 Error at the same time then, eh?
Framerate Issues won't Disconnect you, atleast not if you have 20-30 Frames due of a crowd.
Simply said a Zone can handle only a amount of Players and Monsters, if that Limit exceeds you can kiss 1/4 of those Player Connections Goodbye.
(Hence we had multiple Instances of Zones at the start of Stormblood, because of the amount of Players basically overfilling a single Zone)

I've never DC'd in a mass crowd, while i've seen people DC just loading into certain zones. Said people no longer had issues after upgrading to new pc's. Its definitely a localized issue in most cases, and not the servers. They are probably limiting the number of people (and they ahve said this) to prevent degraded gameplay experiences due to number of people. Balmung is overfull. Move off of the server if you want new blood.Strange how People get 90002 Error at the same time then, eh?

Ixion wants to tell you something then. Even these Days if you attempt to do Ixion you get Disconnected 2-3 Times and you see the entire Mass having the Disconnecting Icon next to their Names.I've never DC'd in a mass crowd, while i've seen people DC just loading into certain zones. (I'm not on Balmung, so no Reason to tell me to move)

I've never DC'd during Ixion, I barely even lag. The comment about moving off is directed at those who think Balmung should remain open.
The instances were limited on number of people to prevent them from crashing, and that is also why they added extra ones.Player machines? Pretty sure when Stormblood came out and everyone got to The Lochs and Ixion was discovered, that wasn't player machines. That was the massive amount of people, chocobo, and pets all in one spot making the zone itself crash and burn and everyone went down with the ship. That's one example of client side not being the issue and there's plenty of other zone breaks in the past from sheer influx and activity.
You won't crash, simple.
Your Client will display only a set number of Players. Most likely 40 (Heck you can even set it in the Settings) so you shouldnt crash at all.
It is under "Others --> Character/Objects"
Crashing and Disconnecting are two different subjects, one throws you completely out of the Game, the other simply puts you back to the Menu Screen.
Weak PC Systems, ya ... not in 2017...
A i7-4790K CPU + 1060 GTX + 8 GB / 16 GB RAM should be Overkill for this ... simply built Game.
unless you run at 4K with Ultra-Realistic Settings on Reshade... thats another Story tho, heh..

Most people play with standard pentiums or AMD a5 APU's, lol. The minority has gaming rigs like that, and I am included int he minority. I have a 4770k and a GTX980ti, hence me never having issues when lots of people are on screen or during Odin and Ixion. You won't crash, simple.

Yup, it seems like "all those players can't handle it".
TL;DR FF XIV game engine is poorly designed, i.e. it can't support many players in one location.
p.s. even if it's ^ kinda offtopic, it's still a problem.

Compared to what? Even the Battle Royal games tend to have a 100 player limit, how many players tend to be at Ixion 200-300? That's a huge jump. What other games have over 100 players in a single area? I'm honestly curious to know because as far as I'm aware a lot of games tend to be 4v4, 8v8, 16v16.
Even Star Wars Galaxies had a limit of 200 per instance making new instances if it reached over that amount because they to understood the max limit a single instance could handle.
I honestly don't think people understand how difficulty it is to keep an area stable when you have 200+ players playing at the same time inputting commands wearing different gear moving taking dmg being healed having affects that go off which then buff other members in the party etc etc.
