    There's two flaws in your thinking. People already do it for no reward at all, and people tend to be stupid if they think they can get away with things (to which, they all think that when they do something); The fact that SQE would start rewarding their customers for attacks on the company would set a precedent that DDoS is a good thing because it will get them free stuff.

    Again, there's a flaw in your thinking; An unplanned disruption of service is more often caused by the company's own mistakes in the game or associated programming and/or improper management of particular resources. These instances are within the realm of the company's control.
    Large scale disruption of service is rarely caused by outside entities; but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen, and we shouldn't expect compensation for it when it does.

    Wait, what? When did you play WoW, back in Vanilla? If it wasn't during that period then I call BS. I was subbed from Burning Crusade to Legion and never, not once, got time credited for patch day or maintenance downtimes.

    Unless you are talking about the debacle surrounding the Warlords expansion launch, which was a one-time deal to apologize for how awfully they handled things. Which again, was their fault, not their ISP's (as is the case here.)

    Definitely remember getting time in BC and Lich King. But they were for patches that had excessive maintenance during the week(think it was over 12+hours after initial patch might have been more). Basically what most MMO's considers a normal amount right now. Never got free time for DDOS and FFXI never got free time no matter how unplayable a game was at any given time.

    If you buy 5 things from Amazon, and 1 of them gets lost or damaged in transit, do you say "aw it's ok, Amazon, it's not your fault UPS lost my package," or does Amazon do right by you and ship a replacement? Amazon chose to contract with UPS to provide a service to you, so Amazon is responsible to you and UPS is responsible to Amazon. Similarly, SE is responsible to us here and NTT is responsible to SE. It doesn't matter to us why UPS/NTT experienced problems. That said, we all agreed to terms saying SE doesn't owe us shit for anything, so it's really about them doing the "right thing" or not, not what we're entitled to or not.

    If UPS is a day late, do you demand Amazon refund your next months shipping for all items?

    The game functions just fine, there is interruptions of service occasionally.

    FF XIV is a consistant service that is experiencing occasional downtimes to DDoS. Comparing it to Amazon, which is providing one-time deliveries is like comparing apples and oranges.

    The amount of people okay with subpar service is astounding. So what it's the servers FFXIV uses. They still use it and a lot of people can't log in/continually DC. They should offer something, anything. I know a few phone apps that do a better job at handling service interruptions.

    I've only had 1 disconnect during the DDoS attacks, its not impacting everyone. For me the service has been exemplary. Just sayin.

    I'm not, because the servers are functioning normally. ISP backbone nodes are being attacked, it may not even be SE's ISP, but another one in the chain of ISP's connecting you to them.
