Sorry for the late response! Been a while since I’d peeked at this thread. ^^

It's alright. It's been a few days for me, but I figured it out. I want Kaiva to look as amazing as you know...I have some gpose work to do haha.

On topic...Rabanastre. It's already a trial in and of itself, but adding in these DDOS attacks....our wall wasn't even Hashmal. It was Mateus...you know, the very first boss you fight. 30 flippin minutes.

haukke manor on my alt, a gld that has yet to learn his tank stances, 2 melee dps who dont know what diversion is, and a healer that wanted to dps more than heal. needless to say i died 5 times bc the healer was too busy using malefic and i lost hate on practically everything-- and to top it off i dc'd due to the shakiness of the servers these past couple of days.

I am so pissed off right now. Just got out of a 50/60 roulette, and queued as DRK. Got Wanderer's Palace HM, and I immediately told these guys that it was my first time tanking the instance. They proceeded to make things as difficult as possible for me. Sprinting and pulling ahead of me (even the bosses), not minding my MP when I said I was low so I couldn't even get unleashes off to grab hate, and they left me to kill adds while just focusing the boss even though the adds for the second and last boss need to die to make things easier. I told my FCs resident DRK about it, and he believes I was trolled. Not even the healer had my back

I feel really discouraged right now. I took up tanking because I know the community needs more of them right now, and wanted to learn something new in the game that I found interesting. While I totally get that you're going to get some bad apples in a PUG, it is just crazy to me that a tank would get treated this way after spending lord knows how long in a queue. I think I get now why some of you tank mains think the way you do when it comes to running roulettes and the lack of incentive to do them.

Don't get me wrong though, I am still going to tank. I am just still so new to it and my armor for this kind of stuff is still hardening. The plus side is that by this group making things so difficult for me, it will make keeping agro with a respectable group all the more easy to accomplish. I'm going to go sharpen my sword now.

Most tanks (And some healers) I know have a simple policy with this. If someone pulls that's not a tank, they'll issue a warning. If they continue, then they'll let them have the add and won't bother to try to save them. They don't like it, they can stop pulling or boot em so they can get a group that will bother to play correctly. Give it a try the next time you get a group of fools like this.

I'll clarify, though: The wipes and failure were annoying, but they didn't necessarily infuriate me as much as the people who refused to participate, or spent all their time in chat, rather than doing anything productive. I hate that kind of people more than anything else.

That's 100% fair. I remember one tank specifically getting really mouthy in chat and in my discord with 2 other friends in the raid we all agreed that we wished we could votekick someone from another party.

This is pretty much my policy. Tanking is already a stressful enough position to play without people making my life and job more difficult. They don't want to play nice, they can get a new tank who will deal with their childishness and trolling - not like queue times are something for me to worry about, after all.

Wow, so sorry to hear that. I personally hate tanking pugs but I will, just to get my dailies done if no one else in my fc needs it or if I'm playing at a off hour. That being said, although I mainly heal, I play a war or drk and if I run into really bad pugs, I have absolutely no problem leaving and eating the penalty. I have absolutely no patience for a-holes. I was never this impatient or mean before but after running into so many a-holes in this game, I think I've become one myself lol.

I was in a dungeon not too long ago leveling my alt war and the sch didn't cast protect so of course I said verbatim "Hello. Protect please." sch responds "nope" I wanted to cuss him out but decided to just leave (I apologize to the dps if you weren't a part of that sch's group). Or when I'm in a dungeon and a brd (mentor flag no less) decides to pull extra adds in dzmael (the area with the frogs you have to be cautious in) so I let him tank it and I walked off and left the dungeon. I have so many instances of running into complete a-holes in duty finder when playing a tank more so than healing so I totally feel your pain. (To all the tank mains, I totally get your frustration with the community)

I think playing a tank can be fun but this community can ruin it for many people starting out. Then they complain, "Why is there a shortage of tanks?" Are you f**king kidding me?

To add to this ongoing tank discussion, one of the things that annoys me most are people urging you to pull more, but still taking forever to kill anything. I was doing Skalla (because apparently that's the only dungeon that exists in my expert roulette) and healer and DRG kept urging me to pull more. Well, the reason I wasn't pulling more is that during the lead up to the first boss when I did pull everything I could, the healer didn't dps and the DRG didn't use any AOE. Like...wtf? Even when I did pull smaller, the healer still sat there twiddling their thumbs, throwing out the occasional cure. For someone so in a rush, they sure didn't seem interested in speeding things up.

That's an extremely example obviously, but still, point is it's a lot less of a pain in the rear if you just pull small specifically because it's taking too long to kill anything. Why people feel the need to rush when they actually can't, is beyond me.
