The lv 63 dungeon. The one that drops lv 270 gear. A monk with a lv 90 relic on as a weapon. Level 90.
Like, at some point you have to be actively avoiding getting anything better. And when you're 180 levels below what's gear appropriate for your level and dungeon, it's just a giant finger to every else in your party who needs to pick up the slack. Please don't ever be that person. Please. We're all better than that.

Sacrifices must be made for the almighty DPS.

Awh, thank you~. I used this site to make it. ^^
Sorry for the late response! Been a while since I’d peeked at this thread. ^^

I have an important question for everyone this morning - do you feel like because a fight or mechanic is relatively cheese-able that it's alright to mess with it on purpose?
I did Alliance Roulette last night on SAM, Labrynth. I was part of alliance A. Had another SAM friend and a SCH friend with me. Right off the bat we have some shenanigans happening with DPS pulling things before tanks arrive and, of course, a massive disconnect hits us soon after DCing both of my healers (SCH friend included) and the tanks from the other alliances. Somehow as about half a party we get through the trash, melee doing their best to immitate tanks and keep things off the healers. I die at the vesy end because everything defensive I have (including potions) is on CD.
Fastforward to the Atmos section where alliances split to kill their own adds. I have never done anything other than A to the left, B in the middle and C on the right. Someone puts up different markers, I don't notice. Some other people thinking like me also don't notice. Others do.
Again I find myself SAM tanking the Atmos as well as grabbing adds as they spawn. We only have one healer in my section and she isn't from my alliance so she doesn't pay me much attention. We also have just 6 people so we don't have enough on our back platform with melee up front to kill our Atmos. I don't feel too bad, the other platforms have an overabundance of people and healers.
Despite our platform not having enough people on it one of the people standing on our (again, inactive) platform is a freaking tank! Homie, please, my poor DPS healthbar was not meant to take this kind of abuse. Step up. Tank an Atmos. Tank an add. Do like... Literally anything?
We don't wipe. We kill our Atmos and all go stand on our back platform now.
How well do you think adds in the King Behemoth fight were handled? I wouldn't know since I wasn't getting roped into SAM tanking them. Just tried to burn the boss. How do you think Ecliptic Meteor went? If you thought it was a goddamn dumpster fire you would win a prize. I'm sorry, I don't have much of a prize for you, all I have is this Diversion button that I am not allowed to use as the freaking off-tank lest my healers get their faces eaten.
The last (major) clusterf*ck was the trash pull with the three demon adds that have to be tanked apart and the bomb add in the middle. Other than a general lack of add kiling it went sort of smooth. My tank actually tanked my add which was great because it gave me time to get Bloodbath, Second Wind, Potions and Max-Elixers off CD.
Thankfully enough people understood the final boss that the terrible people couldn't wipe us with their pranks.
I have never seen so many people so blatantly say "nope!" to mechanics before. I hope I don't again, or at least I'm a healer when it happens so I can at least become openly indignant if I have adds on me.
tl;dr - SAM tank best tank. SAM tank 2018!

The problem is alot of people are unlocking CT and have no idea how to actually run it since you CAN cheese through most of the mechanics now aside from say WoD which still annihilates raid parties. I did these back when they were new, so I know the mechanics. And when you skip more than half there's an issue. And the people new to this have no idea. That's been a discussion me and a few friends have had of how we wish theyd either tweak the original CT raids or come out with an "savage" form of it, just so people who never got to experience the actual fight can experience it.

Something I didn't get to say to the PLD I just had in Bardam:
It's cool and all that you can tank in Sword Oath and apparently out-DPS the Bard, but when you lose half of your HP to every auto attack, please consider using some cooldowns. My Largesse and Benediction are not always available.
You did a good job otherwise.
And a little PSA to ranged DPS:
When grouped with an Astrologian, please don't spread to the opposing ends of the boss room. AoE cards and heals have limited range.

Sch that would constantly pull ranged that would hit the wrong damn mob consistently.. if it wasn't for provoke and ultimatum I don't think I would have minded taking a 30 minute abandonment break.
Ungh, rage quit story of the day.
Learning OS3 for the first time as a healer (SCH), so joined a PF ("book phase practice"). The other healer was a WHM and from the beginning I was wondering what they were doing (things like casting 3 Medica IIs back to back in phase 1). I felt like I was healing a lot and constantly running out of MP while the WHM was at full, and even then people were dying (to lack of healing in addition to mistakes). After some time I asked if someone in the party was parsing and could tell me mine and the WHMs HPS and DPS because I felt like I was solo healing.
Turns out the WHM was healing 28% healing with 100 DPS... Me, as a SCH, I have to add again, 72% healing with 500 DPS. I wasn't the one posting these numbers (although I asked for them), but then another party member started accusing me of shaming the WHM... Even though I had not said anything at all apart from me feeling that I was solo healing the fight (and as the numbers showed, that wasn't really that far from the truth....).
The party member said that numbers don't matter in practice party (yeah, DPS numbers don't, if the party manages to get through the phases, but it sure does matter if 1 healer has to carry a majority of the healing burden while the other simply doesn't contribute nearly at all!) and that I was just trying to brag about my "big heals" (since when has anyone even cared about "big heals" in this game? never!)!I pointed out that yes it was a practice party, but I did not sign up for solo healing practice, and that it was a completely new fight for me as SCH (and healer in general), and that it was very stressful for me to carry that much of the healing burden. Still, the party member said I should have offered some advice instead of this "shaming", but I honestly don't think that I should start explaining a level 70 WHM in Omega floor 3 SAVAGE how they should use their most basic healing abilities when there's some incoming damage....
Edit: My HPS was 6630 at item level 320 (no melds whatsoever). In logs that would have been top 1% for SCHs in that floor. Somehow I don't feel like it was a reasonable expectation for my very first practice party there as a SCH. :'D
