If you dislike the game so much, why are you still here?Oh I am not, after 13 years of FFXI and 6-7 on XIV between 1.0 and ARR it's time to leave, FF online died with 1.0, ARR is just a WoW pattern copy with FF references, ways less talent (and money) than Blizzard and literally a glamour-based game with 9-10 hours of decent cutscenes every two years per expansion. True expansion packs are gonna last for years - both FFXI and WoW made history about. MMORPG is definitely another whole thing where gear, feeling of adventure, end game contents and character development are everything you're looking for.
FF online is that insane and hardcore fantasy online game no more but now full of casual gamers with tons of men or traps pretending to be a cute korean grill, adding ~nyan here and there while typing in cities desperately looking for attention while that 2%u0025 (due lack of leading the game the proper way) hardcore players left subbing every 2-4 months for 1 week progression of encounters (you can't call that things raids) and now with 'fresh' recycled mechanics and bosses too.
Player
I like the thrills of combat that I get from playing FFXIV. The ways the attacks are presented, the ways the fights flow, and the teamwork from players that go into completing objectives.
I like to help others complete duties whenever I can. Helping others is fun and benefits the team. Everyone wins.
I like to decorate my apartments and private quarters with various decorations and furnishings. I usually use the moogle walls, floors, and lights for starters. Though I do use other furnishings from time to time.
Of course I can't forget about listening to the wonderful music as I fight against enemies or hanging out with friends.

"Break a warrior's body, and he will thirst for vengeance. Break his spirit, and he will clamor for peace. Judge my methods distasteful if you will - but know that I seek to end this conflict, not prolong it." - Yadovv Gah, Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn
Because I just started it…
Because I have nothing else to do with my free time at the moment and I'm bored. The moment that changes, I'll be outta here until another lull of boredom sets in.
"I've been playing MMO's a long time and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that lions do not concern themselves with the opinions of sheep. Just take that little voice in your head that tells you to be tactful and understanding and shoot it...shoot it in the goddamn face."
- SAO Abridged (Ep.2 | 8:35)
Same reason other people are here that are unhappy with elements of FFXIV. They hope for the issues that they have with the game to be addressed, and they hope the game gets better in their eyes. Just because you are unhappy with elements doesn't make you a hater. It means you care about the game and want it to be better than it already is.
If you have constructive criticism sure, but if you posting everything is crap and game died 4 years ago and are just negative - then nothing ever going to change. Feedback and suggestions are key here people. The devs don't know if there is something us, the consumer dislike unless we say it in a constructive way.Same reason other people are here that are unhappy with elements of FFXIV. A lot of people are constructive yeah, but devs need to read both constructive and destructive posts. There is also the fact that if people feel they are not being heard, they start to get louder and more frustrated. There are too many people in this community that dismiss any suggestion for change, constructive or otherwise. You can say one line, "I would like, "etc"" and they will dismiss your idea and your thread will get buried. I will be honest i do not know anymore, lol
I do not feel the joy i once did so must be just because i have been playing so long, not sure.
Because I don't have friends and wana feal special by playing this game with a hot Kitty and forcing other to drop to there keen with my beauty.. oh and minion I gotta catch em all!!!!
Joking kinda a bit.. well no really xD
I play because those ores won't mine themselves!
Seriously though, I do love a good grind. I get intrinsic value out of it, rather than just extrinsic.
In my case, I do not get much time to play between working full time, Studying for my degree, doing house work, pursuing other hobbies, and being part of my family. So I have a constant backlog of stuff to do, and lots of story that I have still not yet experienced.
Also, since getting a house I have discovered the world of crafting furniture and making gils and decorating - and that novelty is a long way from wearing off (especially as I can upgrade in size when I save up enough which will then give me even more to do)
