Yay you did it faster! .....how? what did you do that made it faster? That you cleared it faster gives you nothing to work with.
neither does just a dps number. it's exactly the same thing as your comment.
yay you're 200dps higher? how? what did you do that made it higher? just the fact you got 200 more dps gives you nothing to work with...

Except that parsers can answer the why and how but a dummy is basically a pat on the back.
Don't speak on something you clearly have no knowledge of.
I know how act works. I know more about act than a lot of people do. ACT can tell you information that many people think you need fflogs for. such as breaking down how much of your damage came from each of your skills. you can do that in act without fflogs.
ACT is an amazing tool. I have no problem with it. My problem is the way the general playerbase has no idea how it works or how to interpret the data. they just look at the dps numbers and make there judgements on that figure alone. players are to lazy to actually read the data that explains the number they see.
this is also evidenced by people who think a personal only parser would work. because they clearly have no idea how much the rest of the party can impact there dps. and in order to get an accurate assessment of your dps. you need to know what the rest of the party is doing. so you simply can not have a personal only parse....
I've said numerous times in numerous threads ACT or an official in game parser would be amazing IF and only if the player base actually learnt how to use it properly. and the fact people think a personal only parse would work. clearly indicates they are the ones that have no idea what act does. if they think they can make accurate assessments with only a fraction of the data
Heh, someones never used a parser before. They don't just tell you your dps #. They also breakdown how you got that dps # and usually other statistics that gives you something to work with.
With the logs a person can compare what they did differently, including dot uptime, how often crit or direct hit happens, what hit the hardest through the fight, whether you use cooldowns, etc.
Unless my team is just making it up as we go.
Why would anyone argue for JUST a DPS number meter? That isn't the situation and you're being disingenuous. An actual parser would give you more than just a dps number.
