Now, back to rampant progressive speculation. Looking at the map of Eorzea, I don't think it's Dravania we have to worry about; Remember: the beast tribes don't come from exactly the same areas as the woken races; only close by. If one crosses Dravania's valleys, three options present themselves:

1) Continue west to Sharlayan (City of the woken; home to at least Y'shtola)
2) Head north-west of Sharlayan to the open area with the huge dragon above it
3) Head directly north, through the frozen mountains Abalatia's Spine (the home of the Hellsguard) to a land called The Farreach.

That third one seems like a good place to house giant ice monsters. I agree that it's most definitely the cycloptic mobs from the concept art pack - and who else would their primal be but Shiva?

That's interesting because Peter Wynsome or w/e showed up on mysidia the other day, and one of our LS members was trolling him saying the Gigas are teaming up with the Garleans to invade Ul'dah.

Ramuh is classic, but I've never been a big fan of him... maybe it's because he looks too human.

On the speculation:

I don't think he was talking about the Cyclops from the concept art.. it doesn't really look like a cold weather mob.

If it's not the cyclops, then he was obviously talking about Gigas - which makes perfect sense.

It sounds like this stuff might be slated for the 7th Umbral though... If so, they have some big surprises in store that were not at all shown in the concept art.

You read that and speculated shiva. The GM was just RPing along with the player and saying that they could probably summon shiva because they were icy. You're forgetting that they are teaming up with the Garlean. Who don't take kindly to tribes that summon primals.

The possibility exists that they're uninterested in summoning their primal, like the sylph.

Another possibility is they haven't been shown how to summon their primal by a paragon for whatever reason.

I'd never even seen Quetzalcoatl in VIII (wasn't my favorite); he certainly does look badass. Though, with the concept art of Garuda, they might look a little too much alike if they stuck to the VIII design.

Did we ever see any translation for the text around the cyclops monsters? Any mention of habitat or anything? Looks like they're lightning-based and have an incap on their club... but other than that I've got nothin'.

EDIT:
If they are lightning based, that'd be awkward for the sylphs - but then again, the Sylphs are wind based mobs and we already know that the wind primal belongs to the Ixal. Therefore, I'd still be willing to be the cycloptics live in an icy place like Alabatia's Spine // The Farreach. They do have a white coat of fur, which would help them to survive in the ice-covered wilderness.

If that was a gigas, I suppose they've gotten over their scoliosis. Combine that with some Garlean armor and we might be in trouble! Astute observation though... definitely some food for thought...

When I saw that art I thought of the "Iron Giant"... But those are typically bigger than that 'Knight' appears to be.
