To the OP:
I don't think you are a bad player, nor your connection is bad. I merely believe that your positioning is incorrect. Since that seems to be the topic of this topic now I thought I'd comment.
Judging from the picture on the OP if you started running right when it appeared and didn't stop, then yes, you should have gotten hit. Even though your teammates seem closer (2 character lengths or so) they are actually further out than you as you must add in 3-4 seconds delay time. So in reality (on their screens) they are 3-4 character lengths past where you are on your screen meaning they got out further in the same time.
This means one of 2 things:
-Your reaction time is sluggish.
-Your positioning is incorrect.
Since your tag claims you are MRD I will assume your positioning is incorrect and that you are infact a decent player.
As MRD you must be closer than LNC to meele, though MRD has a VERY small area where they can attack outside of sear range. Now what happens is that an Eruption appears under the LNC, and they must run across 50% of the Eruption to reach a safe area.
With you being MRD, and closer (by at least 5%, but most likely 20% from reading the posts) you must run MUCH more distance to be safe. This changes the reaction window down from .4s as stated previously to about .1s or less which is nearly impossible and falls in line with you only escaping 1/10 times. I can guarantee you CANNOT run across 75% of an Eruption and be safe under any circumstance unless you are living in Japan.
Our PGL's and MRD's get hit by Eruptions at least 7-9x more often than LNC's due to this very reason. To fix it there is really only one solution at this time.
Ifrits WS's are timer based so its very easy to tell when he is about to do another, whenever the timer is up you must back your character up to where the LNC's are and wait for the WS.
Yes, you will do less damage but you will have the time now to stay alive (which is the entire premise to win the Ifrit fight = stay alive, dont get hit, you win).
Sorry for the long post but I thought I had to because all other replies to assist you are "lawls u r teh badz lrn2play nub" which isn't the case I think.
