IMO gardening really needs to have an overhaul.
It's one system that needs to be more accessible to more players, and it would actually be something I would be interested in picking up just a yard plot so I could garden.

as i said in another thread Gardening needs to be like the work shop a door in every house..instanced you go in its a fc size room with 24-48 holes the could wall paper the walls/roof to look like outside.. Cause as a Fc leader with a large i can tell you 3 plots isnt enough when your trying to crossbreed for onions/vegi minions and stuffies blood peppers to supply your fc with these things.
Our fc gardeners run any where from 14-17 gardens useing fc peoples personals houses just to make sure everyone has the vegi sets and primal sets of minions we give out the vegi stuffed ones and have onions to level everyones birds
Removing the limitation on gardening plots would also remove the reason people would want them....limited gardening plots is why they are such a cash cow. Removing that would cause market saturation and kill all reason to garden.
The issue isn't solo players owning mansions; the issue is the fact that there are only 6 mansions per ward. If you really enjoy decorating and gardening, why should you be forced to a small house if you've worked hard to get the gil for a large one? I can understand people being upset about it though, since they feel like an FC needs more space. Although there are so many small/medium sized FCs, so I don't really see the point in locking these plots to FCs only.
A lot of times I feel as though people who have FCs don't want a larger house for any real reason other than as bragging rights and to look cool when others see their company profile. A lot of FCs I see either have no garden at all, or they just never have any plants growing (I like to run around the neighborhood a lot). And while I do see some active FC houses, a lot barely ever have members visit. Even on large ones. So you know what? Let those single players who enjoy decorating and gardening have their fun. Chances are, the house will get about the same amount of use in the end either way; you'll get those people and FCs who use the heck out of their homes and those who don't (both single players and FCs).
「Life is such a fragile thing…」
I see no reason why people should not be able to own a mansion even if they are not part of a FC. My view is: If someone has the Gil they should be able to buy a house in the size they like..but sadly thanks to SEs system this is really not that possible, so in the end imo the system need to really change.
Honestly I like decorating the house but my small one is already full and there are so many nice decorations still left open thanks to that. A mansion would at least give me the chance to decorate more. This would be different if they opened up the "buying rooms" for personal houses too and take away the limit of being able to buy only one room. Because if I could just buy over 200 rooms on top of my small house I would be quite content with only having a small one since I could just use these rooms to decorate more and on top of that this would be a nice gil sink.
The onus is not on the players to say "oh.. you have more people , you DESERVE a bigger house". It's on SE to provide enough of the different sizes for people to enjoy the game how they'd like.
Most of the opposition to larger than small personal housing seems to be people with FC's run out of small houses. That sucks.. for everyone. We need ways to have everyone get whatever house size they'd like, and for nobody to be locked out of content they want to explore simply because of supply. Instanced gardening and workshops for those who don't care about decorating and neighborhoods, housing of all sizes for people who do.
Truly a best case scenario, but that's what the goal should be.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
I really don't care if they're for personal or FC use.
I disagree. Because some people do not care to garden regardless of how many plots are available, and some don't care to learn/put in the effort for cross-breeding for things like Thavnairian Onions and Blood Peppers. I think the reason those items are so expensive is because not a lot of people have the patience, nor do they want to put in the effort, to do them. Kind of like fishing in this game.

I wanted a medium but it was gone so bought a nearby large house for personal use.I admit, it gets real disheartening to look around the various wards on Balmung and see the amount of mansions being hoarded by individuals who have never taken the time to even make a token attempt to decorate them, and clearly only visit it often enough to beat the reclamation timer when it's active.
And yeah already had a few people give me grief cos I haven't even bothered to decorate it yet just tossed some bits inside randomly to free up space. But there's no arbitrary rule that says It must be decorated within 2 days of purchase.
Mine will probably sit as is. Until next month when i get a couple of weeks off work and might actually have some time to make some furnishings for it.
Yea. I have a personal large on my main character, and use it for personal decoration. However, I also use it where anyone can be granted tenancy to host an event, regardless of FC affiliation. FCs come and go - I recently relinquished lead of my past free company, but my personal will remain for this use.
