Individual players owning Large Houses for personal use. Yay or nay?

I don't see any problem with individual players owning and using large houses, and I never have. What I see the wrong in, is individual players being able to create and level multiple characters and fc's for the purpose of buying up multiple houses on the same account, regardless whether they use or sell them. As long as there's no hoarding going on, dictating what types of houses individual players can and can't use wouldn't amount to anything more than trying to micromanage how we play the game, and I'd hope the devs wouldn't consider it.

I'll always say this: It's on SE. it's never on the player. If someone wants a large plot only to store 400 Demon Walls, fine, good on them! Blame SE for your whiny rage about not being able to get one.

If a player can afford it, they should be able to buy it. FCs don't deserve a large house any more than a player does. If either one can afford it and they find an open plot, then let them buy it. All these requests just sound like salty people complaining that they couldn't get the house they wanted. Stop trying to take away from other players and propose real solutions to the problem.

Wrong. While any house can have access to the workshop, only large houses can have the maximum amount of gardening patches, vendors and have every crafting station. Crafting stations may only work up to lvl 50 but I can tell you the fc members in my fc use them.

The best way to fix that would be to just remove the limitations on gardening plots and housing NPCs period. They’re completely arbitrary limitations anyways.

I don’t agree with the idea of mansions being FC Only. Housing still needs to be fixed, and desperately. But I don’t think implementing that sort of limitation will do much. Honestly, the number of mansions per ward should be increased. Three per division/subdivision is just not enough.

I admit, it gets real disheartening to look around the various wards on Balmung and see the amount of mansions being hoarded by individuals who have never taken the time to even make a token attempt to decorate them, and clearly only visit it often enough to beat the reclamation timer when it's active.

There's one in my current ward that stands out like a sore thumb especially, as it's surrounded by active RP FCs and RPers with their personal homes. We'd love to see them evicted so we, or another active RP FC could make actual use of it.

Is it within their right to do that? Yeah, sure. I'm not against individuals owning whatever plots they want. But ffs, please at least do something with it?

Eh, this is one of those housing ideas that's only going to cause misery... but I do see the reasoning behind it.

In LotRO, the largest houses are available only to FCs, while the medium and small houses were open only to players. That generally worked well in LotRO, but only because they had that policy from the very beginning of housing (IIRC, it's been a long time since LotRO housing launched).

IMO, I think this idea is completely unworkable in FFXIV because we've got too many of both groups across all the housing sizes. I can see too many smaller FCs getting screwed because a small or medium house works just fine for them, and the players who have rightfully earned the larger houses are also going to get screwed over because they must release them for the FCs.

Probably the best thing to do with this idea is table it until after SE has resolved the houses per server per account capacity issue which will (IMO) have a bigger impact than forcing house sizes on groups.

Honestly, owning a personal mansion is my endgame. I've managed to slowly work my way up from a small to a medium and while I'm in no rush to upgrade to a large it is my long term personal goal simply because of the scarcity of them. Also the layout, they have the best staircase and the best layout for multiple rooms a floor without looking cramped for anything larger than a lalafell.

I think they should've made the plots all one-size-fits-all. Then leave it up to the buyer to determine how much they want to invest in it. In other words, you could have a mansion on any plot, if you wanted to spend the extra money building one up. Or you could have a simple cottage on that same plot, if you wanted to keep things cozy. A large FC could have the mansion up in a day or two, while an individual, or couple, could take their time investing in the plot.

Limit on gardening plots is the only reason why I want to upgrade our FC small house to mansion.

I own a Large personal house. Why?

- I like decorating, larges has more slots to place stuff in and outdoors.
- Gardening. Only larges have access to 3 garden plots.

I could settle for a medium but they need to fix the decorating slots and gardening, otherwise im gonna keep my large house
