If you're talking about the NPCs that run through the Rakuza District towards the stairs that lead to Bokairo Inn, I can confirm that's been around since 4.0. Unless the thief didn't manage to get away in which case . . . new evolving background story?During the Hildy (well, Nashu) quest, about halfway through a Thief/Ninja was being chased by two Samurai and was cornered, with the Samurai calling for the alarm to be raised...and they stayed there until after I finished the quest at which point all three characters were gone. Its possible it had nothing to do with Hildy, and even been around since 4.0 came out. But the Thief/Ninjas outfit was similar to the female's outfit in the pic. Sadly I don't have my own pic to show it off.

Ivalice spoilers
I liked learning more about Garlemald from actual citizens, rather than from their military, there seem to be a lot of level headed people in the Empire, it's a shame for them, that they are ruled by a rather bloodthirsty Emperor. I liked that there were a few Garlean apologists, saying that they wish we hadn't killed so many of their conscripted troops

Just so you guys know, the FFT creator tweeted that the events in FF14 is in no way a sequel of the original.
The rains have ceased, and we have been graced with another beautiful day. But you are not here to see it..

I prefer it that way, plus, the map around Dalmasca doesn't really fit the map we saw back in XII, it's best that they're two seperate entities.
I am not 100% sure but I remember that Yoshida himself said that FF14 has nothing to do with the other worlds (and on top of that that the other split worlds are not the FF ones). Ivalice is just like the crystal tower. Using other FF stories to tell their version of it in FF14 (with lots of fanservice..imo sometimes a bit too much)
On Fordola
If she gets a redemption arc, it absolutely needs to be excruciating for her. I won't accept anything less, because to do so would be to gloss over everything she's done, which includes murder, torture, and, you know, killing her own people, as well as her friends and comrades. Sure, she regrets it, but so far, her redemption hasn't convinced me. I much preferred Ysayle's arc.I agree with you here. She did horrible things to people that did nothing wrong to her. (Just because they are from Ala Mhigo is not a good reason to threat them like that) She might have had that one thing in the past with her father but that does not mean that she should easily be redeemed for a bit of a sad story. I mean how many of the people suffered the same or even worse and yet never did something like that?
Her truly seeing what she did and suffering through that is quite the good punishment. One should not just get free pass from their horrible past doings by just helping once.
In the end I really hope that her change and her redemption will still take time.
I also find the reaction of the people after she saved them realistic. Forgiving someone even for much smaller things is already hard but we are talking about way harsher stuff here. It was nice to see that they still feel horrible about her but at least could thank her. Thats imo a much more realistic human reaction than just giving up on hate so fast. Such wounds may never heal for everyone and I really hope that Lyse does not believe that people will just give that up fast just because she could do that. I mean people like that probably do exist in the real world but the majority of us would probably need quite some time to get over something like that.

I think there's a big difference with her and a certain other female NPC who worked under Zenos. Afterwards she seemed to show regret, or even remorse for her actions (mainly the tipping point was killing her own men), after being backed into the corner.
To add to that, in these later events, now with the Echo she actively experienced the acts she and the skulls did to people. She wouldn't kill herself, as Arenvald noted she had plenty of opportunity to, but wanted to be executed (i.e. punished) for it.
This is a very different attitude than just to blame everyone else for everything that went wrong, due to horrible events in the past.

Haven't read through thread yet. So if any of the below has been discussed yet - sorry.
Did Elidibus take on Zenos' appearance? The Officer's claim of him returning to the capital will need to have some validity, thus an actual face to that claim. The reaction from Varis of "how dare you" would certainly be appropriate if so. And the uncertainty of the other Imperial saying that Eorzea will need to produce Zenos' remains if they are to be believed will be impossible after the whole mob scene where we find out other mob activity resulted in Imperial Officer graves AND Zenos were trashed and that it was "gory to say the least" when summarized.
Yotsuyu... is it me or is she suffering from amnesia? She is acting very uncharacteristic of the person we dealt with.
Am I the only one thinking Ul'dah being involved in Ala Mhigan affairs will end badly. Ala Mhigan folk are unreasonable at the best of times; ignoring the past so easily and disregarding the issues surrounding what they are asking for and from whom, to say nothing of how riled up they get and become an obnoxious mob of people being disrespectful of everything and anything to get what they want - among many other examples. What I'm saying is - first it's getting help rebuilding and relocating; then it's building economy and infrastructure; then comes them wanting independence from Ul'dah claiming a piece of their profits; then they mob conveniently forgetting how they got back on track, and how Ul'dah and others "left them to die" without being reasonable as to why it isn't that black-and-white; then comes the rest -- this has happened numerous times in our own history, and with the aforementioned Ala Mhigan personality of being a twat without thinking or being reasonable/understanding... I fear they won't stay happy with this arrangement for long.
Also... seeing that 1.0 seen of Raubahn and Nana in the Bloodsand Colosseum as he earned his freedom was nice.

Only thing that would make that head scratching to me is that Elidibus has never been portrayed as particularly tall while Zenos was kind of monster of a man. Unless they can change shape that much.Haven't read through thread yet. So if any of the below has been discussed yet - sorry.

I think Elidibus is the scientist guy from Ala Mhigo (cant remember his name, the second boss), the figure we see in Garlemald, and the scientist, both fit Elidibus' build, not to mention, Varis would be taken aback that the scientist that Varis value is actually an Ascian.
I think it is more likely that Elidibus will have stolen Varis' body and used the Empire's Allagan tech to rebuild him, possibly hypertuned. If Zenos is to come back, he will have to pay a price for his 'death', bringing him back hale and healthy wouldn't feel as good narratively. Elidibus infiltrating the Empire would actually be a decent twist, and would explain the creepy turn that the Magitek has started to take since the Empire lost Nero
Ten letters
I wonder if in later expansions Ala Migho becomes a fully explorable city like Ul'Dah and Ishgard etc with Raubhan being the leader of his own city.
