Because that worked with Besieged and early Campaign, right?If it's a complicated fight and non instanced you can just throw more people at it and call it good, completely trivializing any any content they add. By having instanced fights they can make them more engaging, and people can attempt them without fear of other players deliberately destroying their chances for success.
I'm feeling like all hope is gone from this game.
I AGREE - OPEN WORLD and Instance should at least be near 50%/ 50% ....
I love Open world more then Instance but just to be fair...

Oh and by the way, it's not an MMO if it's instanced. By definition.
So they need to relabel FFXIV as a non-MMO if they intend to instance everything.
So what if Dungeons are instanced, they also said that there would be allot of open world content added to. They said they were going to continue to add NM's there the Hamlet defenses and alot of other stuff that will be open world. No where do they say that everything will be instanced.
Instanced dungeons will not ruin the world feel. You'll still have your link shell and company's you can do all the instanced content with them if you want. For those that do not have a good link shell or hundreds of social contacts, they can use the dungeon finder. I for one have my group of people that I will be doing things with, I don't need a finder, but it will come in handy when i am playing in the wee hours of the morning when no one is on.
If you seriously, if you guys want instanced dungeons go play Vindictus! That game is free!!!!!!! Its all instanced!!!! NO OPEN WORLD!!!! Just what you instance lovers want! Come on guys, we are going half way, come half way with us....
And temp, it does ruin the world feel. It makes you not apart of the world, but a world with only 8 players.
So when the new maps are live, are each zone going to be a world with how ever many people are in it? or is that zone going to be a part of the world? It's all in your heads who cares if it's instanced. It's the same dungeon regardless if it's instanced or not. Instances are an accepted game mechanic, used for a varity of different reasons. Accept it or play something else because it's not going to change on this game....ever.
I like what instances bring to enrich the game world. When I enter a dungeon I want to feel as if I am exploring it for the first time. What really ruins it is watching a train of people walking through it killing every mob and ruining a possible adventure. I don't want to run through something that has been picked clean of loot and danger. I want adventure.
I love open world content and I in no way want the game to be completly instanced. SE is meeting us half way. we have instanced dungeons and Open world content. Last patch brought in 1 instanced battle and 4 open world content.
There is a place for both.

Of course there is, but Yoshi doesn't seem to keen on using both.
Yoshida in his current plans doesn't seem to overly care about openworld content. It's up to the community to make sure he understands that we want both not a heavy lean on instanced areas.Originally Posted by Yoshi

Which is fine. But as they keep adding instanced dungeons some will be non-instanced. As he said "Many" not all. There will be plenty of open world content to explore as well.
Idealy I would like to see a mash of both for dungeons with an open non-instanced part and an instanced part. For example the first 2-3 floors could be open while the final stages and boss can be instanced. Another form of instance is to have it set up like guild leve's where you have your own sets of mobs for the culling. You would see others just like in the open field but other then that you would be on your own. I think in ways this would be a better. They have shown that they can keep things specific to the group such as mobs, doors, traps, keys. Hell they did it in XI as well. If there is any compromise to be had. I think it would be in such an option.
