I hate this cross-server anti-MMO design philosophy.
Just keep everything as non-instanced as possible as per the original FFXIV for gods sake.
I dont want to play a stupid instanced game lobby

I going to vouch 1 for the cross-server side. As we are familiar, Wing of the Goddess for FFXI was a whole new server and played by different rules. This couldn't have been possible if it was a merger with the normal server (say, the present as WotG took place in the past) so tech. it's a whole different coding issue.
I understand the frustration people are getting at but that's the way thing are I guess but to experience a new form a challenge and game play in different dungeons, caves colosseum etc. things are taking its toll with a cross-server structure.
If I'm getting this right, the normal areas (server)will have open dungeons with the same physics but with different monsters of higher level. If there's someone with insight about this subject who can word it better, please stand up before this thread gets crazier than it is. XD
Crossing servers causes loading as it does for instances and as familiar with computers that I am, it still fustrates me but I have to live with it. Like the airship travels... I wish soon it'll all be in real-time and how ever long it takes to travel, I want to experience it like that of the ferry. If not, just revamp it and get rid of the cut scenes.

Yes, instanced things are fine but open are very nice too. Keep and add both types in the game.
I dont see a reason why should things like lvl 15dungeon or cassiopeia be instanced anyway

I like the idea of non instanced, but then again if it is instanced the competition aspect disapears, and for someone like me who likes to get the drop he is looking for without having to compete for it instanced would be preferable.
Open world dungeons do not necessarily have to contain competitive fight. Thigns like Pop NM and Boss fight instances can be incorporated while still maintaining an indepth and social dungeon.
And I like feeling like the time spent playing was worth it, as well as actually feeling accomplished with what I have done.
How paladin looks on a controller:
i think we need to have equal amt of instanced and non-instanced content. not one favored over the other.
open is alot of fun for some , If they introduced something like campaigns in 11 or besieges I would be there like a dirty shirt and loving it. ^^
i truly loved participating in those (even with my lag at the time @@)
instanced dungeons are excellent as well they provide a type of "guaranteed content", a bit more controlled and i see NOTHING wrong with having it in game.
can only heighten the experience for those that prefer that content style.
open world competing can indeed be healthy but sadly ppl always go to the extreme. large numbers usually donimate against those in tiny groups or soloers. that to me, ruins the fun and those that camp for like days to get a spawn...well more power to ya but i worry about ppl like that <---nurse, i cant help it sorry.
but having some content like that is what some ppl life for, and no harm in that either ^^
i like instanced and would prefer campaign style content. the reason i loved campaigns so much is that there were no rules and mostly no leader!!!
solo, duo, full pt could do well and everyone worked together regardless to see the objectives through.
griefing wasnt even possible (except for the d---- that liked to run 345 miles ahead to cut off some of the mobs) but overall everyone contributed in their own way.
everyone could have fun and no one had an advantage and THAT is what i miss most from 11.
it was plain old, good natured , all around fun!! gogogo..lol besieges were the same a cluster of ppl all having....fun.
/sign for both

There is nothing more important to an MMO than having a diverse array of Content. I hate to be one of those people sighting XI all the time. But 36 hour NM spawns aside, XI did it right. Instances, HNM, Open World Dungeons, Massive PvE.
You can't rest the success of an MMO on a single type of content. Especially instances which have the shortest shelf life of all MMO content.
They need too limit instances to once a week, with higher drop rates. Doing ifrit 100 times with no drops is very disappointing, but doing ifrit 10 times and getting a drop, is a lot better. That took 10 weeks to get the drop you wanted(or sooner) that adds life the the game. You can also make better statics with that as well, with your ls and friends. Same goes with the dark-hold instance. People got all the stuff in matter of one day for some people. That doesn't add depth to the game, it shortens the life of it.

I brought up the thought of limiting instanced content to a type of "Ticket" system like leves so people wouldn't feel "Left out" if they couldn't always be on when their timer refreshed. If SE listens to the players on everything the game will become incredibally easy.
Demanding challenging content and then allowing people to throw themselves at said content un-endingly is the reason why things like Darkhold and Ifirit lasted the community a few days before the optimal class/gear/time whatever was rained down from on high.
It's hard for people to say they want the content to be spaced out a bit more, give them some more time to think about strategies instead of just trial-error everything under the sun in a day.
Personally I wouldn't mind something like even a hour cooldown on instanced content (Perhaps allow a few "Tickets" like leves to build up) So people can't just bash their heads into a wall until it breaks down. You wouldn't imagine how much longer Ifirit would have lasted us if we could only do 7 runs a day.
