No one is saying people who got lucky need to be bleeding hearts but creating a "positivity" on the day most people were screwed out of that same feature in some way or another is remarkably tone deaf. This isn't even the OP commenting on an existing thread saying they got lucky and are happy about it. They created a thread to spotlight themselves and draw attention. I hearken back to the example above.

I have to agree with the quoted reply.

There's also a flaw with your metaphor/analogy, in that the person is not only someone who is my best friend, but simultaneously their situation has nothing to do with me. In the case of housing, someone getting a house means that someone else cannot get one. In the example you gave, I would have gotten promoted for something unrelated to my friend's firing, especially if we had completely different places of work.

Also there is the fact that the OP was not directly addressing you as a person, but the forums as a whole. Yet people still got incredibly personal as if they themselves had personally spoken to, offended that the OP would even say anything to them after they had been screwed by housing. Pot calling the kettle black, it just shows how selfish a lot of posters are. There is simply a lot of pretenders acting as if they care about how others feel but in reality it just reeks terribly of, "I'm bitter because I specifically did not get a house."
