I thought downranking was cool and "strategic" in WoW too. I raged when they got rid of it. It didn't turn out so bad.

downranking was pointless. By them changing it in this game they make room for more spells in the long run instead of the same spells part 1 2 3 4 5 and a few others glittered in as you go.
99/100 things people have complained about on these forums before the patch actually comes out have turned out to be well-designed and very fun. People ought to chill out instead of freak out.I really don't get the attitude of "well you don't know that it'll be a problem, wait and see before you complain".
I'd rather people were like OP and raised genuine concerns before a change is implemented. If people raising concerns helps the devs in even just one case then it saves them time in not having to redo something, and it saves us aggravation in using a system that doesn't work as it might.
you raise concern before the patch guess what they are going to do? NOTHING. you have to wait and complain after the patch is implemented for them to even bother tinkering with anything.
TBF I quit wow a month or so after they release Cata because they completely screwed up Priest and shaman healing, its probably fixed now but I can see why some might be worried, but these things happen lol
Enmity from healing and damage is all calculated by a single formula - 1 enmity point per HP healed or damage dealt.
Therefore it would make sense that if you were nuking, instead of throwing out 2 lower tier nukes, just wait a few seconds longer then cast your spell. This way you have the same damage, the same enmity, over the same time period.
As for healing, if a tank requires a cure big enough for you to take hate at the beginning of a fight, I really truly feel sorry for you and your tank.
All this system promotes is a slightly different way to time and control your abilities, it just requires some common sense to compensate. Anyone who criticises this new system should go do some testing themselves once it comes out, you obviously need more practice.
i raided as priest and shaman during cata (a few days after it was released) and PRIEST healing was far from screwed shaman yes but priest not at all. Shamans had no gain from mastery it was pointless but priest/paladin had it made.
Or maybe with the combos and changes classes will be doing more dmg and the hate wont be an issues unless you're a cure spamming scrub?Enmity from healing and damage is all calculated by a single formula - 1 enmity point per HP healed or damage dealt.
