Isn't the person who could swap between protect and what ever in seconds but doesn't do it because he/she is to lazy to do so the scrub?
I mean seriously just swap for gods sake, it doesn't hurt you...well you maybe have to take your eyes away from netflix for a moment if you are not using a macro but still.
I added the following to my protect macro:
/p Casting Protect, please stay close!
Since then, not a single person has run off during Protect at the start of a dungeon. That was a couple months ago. I've had people start, then come back to get it. Was honestly surprised at just how well it worked. Sometimes it seems people just forget that you haven't put it up yet.
Change it out with Esuana, no chance of cooldown conflictI always cast Protect, so I can't say that I have. People like having it. Would I kick while I'm on another role if the healer didn't cast it? No, especially if we were clearing just fine. Results matter, in the end.
That said, copy this macro:
/macroicon Protect
/macroerror off
/aaction Largesse off
/aaction Protect on
/ac "Protect" <me>
/wait 3
/aaction Protect off
/aaction Largesse on
That will remove Largesse, add Protect, cast Protect, remove Protect, and add Largesse all with one button press. Hit it at the start of the dungeon. Everyone now has Protect, and you don't have to keep it as a role skill.

Call me crazy, but how come you did not swap to protect at the start then swap back to your preferred role skill? I mean switching between the role skills would have took less time then coming to the forums and creating this thread.any other healers ever been kicked by not using protect ? my main healer is astrologian and my role skills are : esuna , largesse , lucid dreaming , swiftcast and eye for an eye .
in roulettes i have been kicked for not using protect despite the fact it doesnt actually provide that much of a mitigation .
5% mitigation isnt essential and doesnt mean i cant dps . the complaints are almost exclusively from dps players , cant they attack without protect been on ??
only the tank should be taking damage (except aoe attacks from bosses n other such things) so why not dps spend more time attacking n less time moaning about needing mitigation for moves that are avoidable in the 1st place
It's pretty sad we have all just accepted that all these optional skills are mandatory due to our community and as such we have learned to obey the hierarchy of necessary skills. I just wanna use rescue and be a hero but I don't have enough role skill slots. Why does SE taunt me with skills I want to use...
Is that how macros work on console or only on PC? I've been wondering on if I should use them or not but I'm not very privy to the system and just make extra skill bars to manage everything (currently a "healer" bar and a "dps" bar, but they're static unless I find skills that I actually need or want).I always cast Protect, so I can't say that I have. Well, at least I'm trying...
I don't have a PS4 to test, but AFAIK macros run the same on both. Creating them in the first place is a lot easier if you plug a keyboard into your PS4, of course. Is that how macros work on console or only on PC?
