i think its more than fair to own just 1 house per server. so if you play with friends/alts on another you still have the option to have 1.

Nothing would be lost. They already have instances for the interiors. All they need to do is to add the exterior to the interior instance and you have instanced housing. This also fixes the server resource requirements of the ward system and would allow server housing resource allocation to become dynamic. You could add in a way to select the exterior view and make a common area with all of the shops, etc where the common entrance would be.

That and default from Non FC leaders showing up.
Is it now? In the real world, I can hire a realtor and give specifics on what I want in terms of square feet, property lot and neighbourhood. I'm only limited by my own budget. So where's this feature in the game?

Alright, Mr. Dedicated. When everyone alarm clocks the patch at 6am EST, flooding the servers en masse only to get barred by a 600+ person queue blocking their access for several minutes, how do they "work around" it? Transfer servers? There are not enough houses by half regardless of server. And it won't make a difference if the whole datacenter crashes, which has happened due to that aforementioned flooding.

Right. The devs should focus on content people actually want to do. Considering glamour is by and large the most popular aspect of this game, and housing is essentially an extension of glamour. They should focus on improving housing! I'm glad you agree.

Exactly, which makes me wonder why on earth anyone would argue against improving the housing system so that everyone has access, unless they just like feeling special and unique because they managed to get one.

This is exactly why they do. There is no other logical explanation.

I think those that feel this way are the rarity. I rent a house (I don't feel I own something I pay a monthly subscription for). I feel most home owners wouldn't be bothered with instanced housing as long as it didn't take anything away from what they currently have. I know it wouldn't bother me. I have seen one player in my ward since I built my house and to be honest it was kind of creepy as they followed me around and sat beside me without typing a word. In fact if it had a common area and entrance similar to the inn rooms it would feel more alive to me. I think the neighborhood idea was a noble experiment unfortunately it hasn't been successful.

I think it's more of the "prestige" with owning a house. Because it's so limited, it makes people feel special, like owning a collectable item that was a limited run IRL or something. It's a problem that unfortunately seems to be pretty pervasive in online games.

A good example of the attitude would I think be in WoW when transmog (glamour) was added and it was discovered that you couldn't transmog your gear to the old level 60 PVP gear unless you reached a certain rank in Vanilla, which only a very small portion of people obtained then, and even fewer were still playing (note: this has since been changed). It was a stupid restriction, because you could obtain and wear the actual gear itself still. You just couldn't glamour the appearance, and the biggest argument people had against allowing it to be used for transmog was "it marks that person as being a super dedicated player" when in reality, it was nothing but a big grind to get in a game rife with terrible balancing and PVP design. And again, any level 60 schmuck could still put on the gear and wear it; I used it a lot for leveling alts before heirloom gear was added. People just wanted to feel special.

    Things we would lose:
"neighborhoods": You would never meet another player JUST because they happened to buy a house next to you.
"location": there are no special locations for your house now. You're just another house. No hotspring/waterfall/swimminghole access nearby or neat view over all other houses.
"curiosity tourists": no more attracting people to come look at your house or decorations just because you've been creative with the exterior.

    ... that's it.

I'd say it's worth it to lose these things if everyone can have a go at housing. I own a house in a neat location but I'm all for it: +1 Gimme instanced housing so everyone gets one!

One fc and personal house per player account or instanced housing needs to happen.

Over all the only people complaining are those who don't have houses because the game feel unfair. SE created new servers when SB came out to help with the congestion. They gave incentives to people for moving and people in other servers complain that they lost their chances at housing because of that. Over all each server is different and consider the following:

Bottom line Life isn't fair, gaming isn't fair to those who are at the bottom, yet there are players who manage to climb to the top even when the odds are against them. This coming update will be the same issue again no matter what server anyone is on and people will still complain it isn't fair. Those who want a house bad enough will get it and I'm pretty sure people will complain about DC's. / They had to work / They got screwed / or make some petty excuse. I respect everyone's perspective and if people really want to build a house or play house there go marry someone with a house. Ask the FC to give you those rights to store or use what ever perks it has. I mean I'm sure that is what most FC do right? Then again before I became a one man FC I kept getting screwed and as we or most of us know if your not part of the main Founding group you get screwed. Therefor I will wish you guys luck in this upcoming housing release. No hard feelings to anyone and just a friendly advice; we all have our perspectives and experiences and hope you guys started scouting the market by getting ready to go to the plots of people who are looking to relocate for a chance at older wards. hint hint.
