I don't know about you, but I don't play Final Fantasy XIV so I can experience the exact same rules as real life. Who cares if housing IRL is first come first served? This is a game.Housing is like in the real world, first come , first serve. SE has taken steps to help the problem. The real issue is that do to Gill Sellers they monopolize many wards. SE can't really do anything unless they have solid proof of violation. So for now call in days off, call in sick, use vacation time, camp areas out. That's how most of us got them anyways. That and default from Non FC leaders showing up.

I'd honestly give up a personal house if they introduced deluxe apartments. Give the option to upgrade to the same size interior as actual houses. They're instanced so it shouldn't cause a huge strain on the servers, should it? I admit to not knowing a lot about such things.

The fact that right now I'm way more stressed than excited about this patch and trying to grab a house for my Free Company because things are literally locked behind having a house - and because a FC is more desirable due to these items locked behind housing is completely unacceptable. I've had the money for any house for a long time but have no opportunity to get one due to the complete lack of availability. I'm basically going to be fighting everyone else on the server as well as RNG to try and hope my game doesn't crash in the first ten minutes the game goes back up.
Apartments might have been a fix for someone looking to have a room, but we've put FC and personal housing together. The prices have only gone down for the houses and we haven't gotten new wards in years and years so people have more money than ever to spend. Just give me instanced housing, FC only wards or assurance that this isn't forever...

I don't see how anyone in their right mind could possibly disagree, to be honest. I've said it a billion times over the past few weeks and I'll keep saying it until something changes (or I quit first): housing availability is an effing joke. It's embarrassing just how out of touch the developers are. Numerous game with housing systems never even had to worry about this issue because they made sure there were always more than enough houses for every player. But here we are with our sub fees and cash shop, and years later, this problem remains unsolved. And much more importantly, SE has shown little to no care to resolve this issue unless they plan to open up a new zone every 3-4 years. Just imagine, by 2050, there might just be enough housing for every player who quit decades before!

I'd love to see FC's have their own instance for housing where they have one large fc house and the rest of the houses are able to be bought by fc members. This would open up spaces for personal houses if u don't want to go full instance housing.
As things stand, thanks to this third party now we're scrambling to get a home again and retain the millions worth of things we worked hard for over the last year that are sitting at the caretaker. There simply is not enough to around. Not for FCs,not to mention single players. As things stand I don't think they fully realize (or if they do they ignore) the fact that the housing system as is encourages their paying subscribers to use ways to it that don't fit into what they want or the ToS,where entire communities based around circumventing this severely out-dated system have sprung up, and the actual cost of housing is into the dozens of millions, sometimes more when you take housing grabbers into account. Look at Mateus and the entire ward of 'Redacted' that sprung up there. There are instances where folk take up their full 8 characters when housing drops -apartments AND houses proper- in order to skin players who worked in some cases over a year just to get 25+ million required.
as many threads as I see on housing as someone whom has a house the real disservice is the fact that in this game housing kills immersion. Tell me why when I log out I have to end up outside, tell me why when I go into a dungeon I end up outside this kills housing for me. The inn room feels more like a home than the actual housing in this game but yet everyone whines about housing when it has almost zero immersion at all
Sigh.... it's common sense. Yeah and I play it to just live real life right...-.-; In this game housing works a bit differently and wards can take up quite of bit of space. Eventually people will get them and SE did try to fix some of it by using apartment options. Over all FC can have multiple rooms and share the house...depending on your FC. Collaboration between players can be competitive and if anything there are ways to get houses it just depends on how you go about it. I still have some players asking me to sell my house. I had two large mansions, one FC ( one man FC mainly for perks ) and a personal one. Even after selling the personal one I was able to buy a different mansion on my alternate even though their were no more available. There are ways people just have to know how. With the new expansion more a new area will become available and same rules as RL apply. First come first serve. Some of us are just more dedicated than others and work around RL. While this game has SOME rules similar to RL it's more of common sense which unfortunately seems to be a dying trait even in games. Communicate, befriend playesr, connections, ect. If people can't do the basics it's no surprise. Should this game become more like RL? Giver people a trophy for trying so their self esteem doesn't get hut? or in this case a house? Funny this game has already been neref enough and people still complain.

Technically it's because the inside of the house is an instance and when no one is in that instance it closes it down so there is nothing to return you to, hence you get booted outside.
But as to why it works like that we can only theorise. Although it's entirely possible for the instance to still be open (FC house or just other people stayed there), SE chose what is probably the safer option and always assume the instance was closed. Another question is why doesn't the instance just reopen when you come back from duty servers, but that might be for performance reasons, not everyone would want to go back into the house so by putting you outside they've opened considerably less instances.

I think they feel housing is "optional" and not something necessary to the game itself. So why bother changing the formula.
