Veteran Reward changes - Big slap in the face for long time vets?

We want players who paid $156 and $624 in their subs to be treated differently. What's the point to pay $468 more if you gain no benefit from it?

The point of paying a sub is to be able to play the game. If you really paid a sub even when you weren't playing just in order to get a bunch of mediocre cosmetic rewards, then you have nobody to blame but yourself for that silliness.
You will be able get the rewards in question anyway now so you haven't really lost anything.

While the change itself is pretty lame for people that have not dropped a sub since the game came out, this is just opening another can of worms. What about people who buy from the cash shop a lot? Should they be treated like royalty in comparison to everyone else?

Nope, people who buy from the cash shop are just as valued as those people who pay a subscription fee. If the only thing players look at before subscribing to a game is "Am I going to get some cool in game items" than it is time to reevaluate the reason you play online subscription based games. When I made the switch from World of Warcraft to Final Fantasy it had nothing to do with the awesome in game items I would get. I chose to make the switch because I Love MMO's and was ready to try something different.

My friends and I were were talking about this on discord and Im kinda torn. On one hand, I don’t care for the cosplay glams all that much so I don’t really mind them being easy to obtain. On the other, even if I bought 180 days I’d be a little shy of getting the Firion minon/barding, which means Im going to need to “buy it” across all my characters with achievement points :/

Been playing since July 2013. These changes don't matter to me. I got my final veteran rewards not long ago and the thought that newer players only need to sub for a year doesn't impact me at all. I sub for the game - the rewards are just nice little thank yous.

Waited a long time for the Cloud outfit and all that matters to me is that I have it. If someone can get it much sooner than I was able to then oh well since its not like waiting for time to pass by was hard work.

I have cool pants so nothing brings me down.

Getting into how people spend their money is eh. People spend their money for different reasons, limited/collector's editions exist and all that. There may be some of the opinion that spending money on games is dumb in the first place, too. The value of something is purely subjective.

I remember WoW had this limited bundle deal when Diablo 3 was releasing, where you could get tyrael's charger if you paid 1 year sub on WoW. I saw quite a few people with the mount. This is kinda the same thing other than it not really being limited.

However! Can we maybe just get that Fantasia for everyone? It helps out new players who completed the 2.0 MSQ before their free time ended (who, as far as I can tell, straight up won't get one now), and it's a nice bonus for your longer term subscribers in the face of the reduced rewards.

^ This right here. Not everyone getting the Fantasia for doing the quest is more of a slap in the face then the reduced veteran rewards imo.
