Veteran Reward changes - Big slap in the face for long time vets?

Reading around social media, people's opinions have been divided.

Personally I do understand the change, but as a long time player, I also feel like its a bit harsh to us that earned these rewards by playing for the period of time needed (ignoring those that buy and stack a lot of time cards.)

What's your thoughts?

I just saw it a couple of minutes ago myself.

Well, it seems the change is intentional to get new players in subscription for the game at least for a year, even if it's for the rewards only. Also the free Fantasia it sure is a gif, even if i dont know when i will use it

I do not see it as a bad change at all, and ii am playing guess here, but maybe in time they will add new things to the higer tier.

Well, I personally am glad that more people can enjoy the stuff?

I didn't pay my subscription for rewards, I paid them to play the game. I'd be peeved and feel ripped off if I paid a cycle without getting the gametime, the rewards are just a bonus.

That is a pretty dramatic cut back and they aren't really veteran rewards anymore as you can get most of them in your first sub if your keen. I get making them more accessible but it does seem to come with a subtext of we don't value are long term players and are desperate for new players to replace them.

Even though I just got my Leonheart Coat and enjoyed the status glamour I'm happy to admit that almost 4 years is a ridiculous requirement. I don't think the changes are a big deal.

However! Can we maybe just get that Fantasia for everyone? It helps out new players who completed the 2.0 MSQ before their free time ended (who, as far as I can tell, straight up won't get one now), and it's a nice bonus for your longer term subscribers in the face of the reduced rewards.

The veteran rewards were never truly meant to be a gift to long term players if we're being honest. They existed to incentivizing continual subbing. For new players joining in Stormblood, Leon's Coat may as well not exist since there's a decent possibility FFXIV won't have much left in 2021-- eight years after its relaunch. FFXIV has never made a secret it values a constant stream of new players replacing those who grow bored hence Yoshida's insistence he doesn't mind people taking breaks.

Personally, I think this is a good decision. It allows more Final Fantasy fans to enjoy potential nostalgia. As I said in the other thread, I imagine new veteran rewards will function similar to the Falcon mount campaign.

Yikes, I switched my sub to pay months in advance for the Squall outfit. I would of waited or switched to monthly if I knew this was going to be a thing. It makes me a little annoyed but (...whatever).

as a long time sub, i feel like this is a welcome change, 4 years was a bit up there on the extreme charts,

pretty sure instead of vet rewards, the campaigns like the falcon mount are the new thing.

Square pls. Can you not be so stingy with your fantasias? I'd rather have them then cloud or squall's outfit any day..

Actual veteran players get nothing in return while everyone else benefits from the changes.
