Veteran Reward changes - Big slap in the face for long time vets?

Why are the Legacy players so mad? Special mounts, equippables, the tattoo, subscription discounts, titles, and of course memories are bonuses that the rest of us will never see. They're still including fan service for Legacy players in new content now, even though it makes newer players feel left out when it's blatantly obvious we're missing a reference to something exclusive from the past.

Veterans already have a lot of benefits, like being able to get a house more easily, or enjoying long-gone in-game events, or having access to some of those older items which never appeared in the cash shop, or the simple benefit of having played the game for all of this time while others missed out. What's the point in being angry that other people get a quicker route to a few extra clothes?

(If people were genuinely staying subscribed and not actively playing the game and enjoying it, just to get Squall's costume, well, maybe it's actually a good opportunity to reflect on that.)

Are you a Legacy player? If so, your "thank you" is paying $5 less than every other person from 2.0 onward. For reference sake, you have saved $240. That essentially means the base game and both expansions were paid for by Square Enix for supporting the game during its dark times. So spare me.

So in some other words , we save $240 , while some us pay more to have a service running as smooth as possible ( Higher dedicated gaming line ), having to deal with game quality going down do to players complaining game is too hard, hearing people complain that dedication doesn't pay off? Hmmm yes those $240 are nice yet they get it back 10 fold in optional services, item exclusive sales, and oh let us not forget their great customer service support from their online store -.-... I'm Legacy and even I have to agree some things should be kept exclusive rather than have them in game rewards after the fact that they should be treated as a limited time exclusive.

I mean, what was the point of staying subbed for 4 years if I'll get all the same bonus stuff with paying 1/4 of that sum now? And no, there was no real need to be subbed all the time between patches because new patches content lasts two-three weeks tops and the rest was draught and between-patch lull filled with meaningless dailies.

If it's going to start saving you that much money now it must be a welcome change.

I'm a bit torn on this. While I'd like to see long time subscribers to get rewards, i understand them wanting to reward the newer subscribers. at the same time tho, with 3 years under my belt....im left a bit saddened that I wont be able to acquire new items at that sub level. But it is what it is.

We want players who paid $156 and $624 in their subs to be treated differently. What's the point to pay $468 more if you gain no benefit from it?

But newer players can spend money on all of those other things too. And they do.

Hmmm getting houses more easily? Nope we still had to do the work for them, I myself had to take time off work and camp them out. Just like today's generation ( Cupcake / snowflake ) people think they should all be given a trophy just for trying -.-.

To be be fair the system needed changes in the first place, however they caused the entire problem themselves (When the squall outfit was released it was about 360 days to get it on top of already being subbed 3 years in a row, seriously?) with the amount of time in between increasing as time went on when it first started as every month. So it takes about 30 less days now in a row than people that were caught up had to pay to get the squall outfit when they first implemented it. Not entirely that terrible, 1 year sub is still quite the investment. They just dropped needing everything else. IMO they should have gave people that reached 1, 2, 3, and 4 years in the old system something a little extra, maybe some titles or something that current players could also get if they reached those milestones.

I'm not fussed, I was at the start, but now that I realize I have 10k achievement points to spare, I'm not annoyed that others are able to get it. But I will say, this is something they should have done the day the Advent attire was added, as I believe that was the first set they added.

I'm on a legacy character but didn't qualify for the discount, so you can chill with the attitude. I have however played since 2.0 beta and haven't missed a months worth of sub time, even in the slow times. Until today square valued that and showed their appreciation for my loyalty. Now they're backpedaling on that. The existing rewards should have been left alone and new stuff been offfered in other ways, like the falcon mount.

No they didn't. The Veteran Rewards system existed primarily to incentivize continual subscriptions. Why do you think they always chose nostalgic outfits? The whole intent was for Final Fantasy fans to feel compelled to continue playing so they could get their potentially favourite character's outfits. That incentive gradually lost its luster when new players would be waiting until the twilight of FFXIV's life cycle to obtain these items hence the change.

How about that you got to play the game? If you remained subscribed just to lord over the fact you got a timed exclusive faster, that says more about you than anyone else. Your subscription went towards access to the game itself. Veteran Rewards were nothing more than a bonus.
