Yeah, poor arguments and trolling aside, don't remove the surnames feature, that's just.. dumb, really.
Do you have any idea how rare it is to find a game that doesn't have the stupid, arbitrary limit of one use per name? To this day, I've found three. Phantasy Star Online, Phantasy Star Universe, and Final Fantasy XIV; and the first two achieved it by using a system of numeric character ID's that'd make very little sense here, not to mention would be very difficult to implement and make user friendly given the differing game formats. Besides, I like the forename, surname, format.
Even setting aside the fact that the level of coding needed to remove surnames would be huge to the point of not being worth it - just think how many game systems have to call on our character name, it's a lot more than just name display and chat - the idea is still stupid. It's stupid even setting aside my first argument; how do you handle changing it to a one-name-per-player system? Tell huge numbers of players 'Sorry, you've gotta put up with being Forra#12 for the rest of your time here, or delete the character you worked so hard on, then remake and spend hours trawling for a name that isn't already in use'?
