Unfortunately not everyone is like you, not everyone plays to win, some play for the experience of doing it or out of boredom. When I use to play FPS games competitively I was quite good, but sometimes I would play and just mess around and have fun. I would lose and I didn't care, it was just for fun. Sometimes I would use only pistols or the 'weak' weapons and have fun just trying to frag people.

Yes, I know this isn't quite the same as an MMO but the principal behind this is that it's a game and it's for fun. Some players log on for an hour a day while others are on all day every day. You can't expect everyone to have the same attitude towards the game.

And as I said before, some people are just not good at video games but they play for fun anyway. Just like in real life some people aren't good at basketball but they play and other people are professional players... this is an MMO and you will have a mix of people who are good, bad, mediocre, stubborn, selfish, hardcore, casual, ignorant, greedy, needy, whiny and drama queens. I think that provides some clarity..
I suppose it's about expectation. My better half is someone who chooses to solo rather than engage in group play, and I want to say that is the perfect avenue for people who just want something to do for a bit. Though, I really don't think any variation of 'core' defines a person who is willing to go out, do their best and have some fun with a successful group of people. I really wouldn't believe you if you told me that your definition of fun is having to stop the action repeatedly because (multiple) someone(s) needs raising or waiting for MP or this or that or anything that amounts to more frustration than fun.
