In the credits you can read what seem to be the in-game character names for all the characters that were used. I believe the real characters played themselves in the in-game footage (obvs not in terms of audio etc). They're on Gungnir. http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...1360760184678/

Finding their FC lodestone gave it SO MUCH MORE sense. I thought "KIRIN!" was just a battle cry and not a "go ahead Kirin do your thing!" type of thing. RIP

Having had numerous Japanese colleagues over the years and spent some time in my company's development labs in Japan I think show reflects their culture to a fairly reasonable degree. It is somewhat more dramatic than real life but Japanese culture is quite different than what we have here in the States or Europe.

as a european/american who knows nothing about japanese culture but countless animus, me and my girfriend only got to episode one. It was hella cringy I can't. The character having a female voice inside the game, the made up machinas with things you can't do in game, the exagerated pauses and deep glaze into eachother's eyes, a weird son playing a female characater stalking his father instead of telling him right away hey it's me let's have fun like if the game is some kind of cult (now I know he wanted to know more about his antisocial father) But as much as I love this game the whole thing was too cringy for me.

And I see a lot of people giving it too much leeway because MU ffxiv but I really dislike when things are not accurate or breaks any sort of disbelief because it simply puts me out of the show, following other users comment, claiming the hardest fight is twitania but then having ironwork gear, or in the first episode the weird overexagerated machina with a long ass scream that by the time he even finished that poor father should be 2 shooted by that lvl 12 mob agaisnt s lvl probably 2 or 3 player.

people can tell me is jdrama or whatever but I've seen some eastern movies and their acting is not as bad or cringy some even of the greatest movies are from easter origin. I 'd like to give it a chance since I see most people praising it but I will like to know if anyone can tell me exactly what's good besides being a ff14 story.

also the low frame rate ingame gameplay is jarring.

Edit: So I finished the show and I actually gotta say It was very very enjoyable, I think the first episode was very confused with what it was trying to be but it definetly picked up by episode 2 and improved all the way until the end, it end up delivering a better story than I expected, and I guess you get used to the acting methods too so it becomes bearable. I'd recommend to check it out and give it a try even if it becomes a bit corny at times. Also I think the last episode was very bland and unnesesary and Atleast for me if the story is not compeling as the first 7 episode for me is a no-go for a season 2.

So it'd somehow not be weird at all if the in-game female character spoke with a male voice?

Yet all the actions used ingame are all available to every other player? I'm not sure what you mean with this.

That's because the filming was done much more recently, while the actual events from the blog happened when Twintania was the strongest boss. Was it an oversight to give ironworks to the dad's character? Perhaps, but they might've wanted to show a significant visual gear upgrade, for the players who aren't familiar with the game.

That's just the usual dramatization that also happens in other shows/anime.

Jdrama series =/= eastern movies. You're comparing apples and oranges here. Some eastern movies can be jdrama, but not all eastern movies are jdrama.

As far as I know, this is only an issue on larger screens. I didn't notice any low framerates when I watched it on my computer's monitor (1080p).

-sure let me know when you can lb a lvl 12 mob outside of an instance while super running.

    -excuses.

-seem they didn't do anything close to that in the next episodes which were actually very enjoyable.

-idk if it's because I got used to it or undertood their acting methods but episode 2+ didn't bother me at all the acting was on par with some of the wester movies I've seen but episode 1 was vey cringe and weird acted.

-still an issue since most people use netflix on their tv/ps4/smart tv/google chrome tv thing. even tho I didn't noticed much on episodes 2+

    2. Dramatization. I hope you haven't seen the benchmark video for ARR, where they use LB3 in tam-tara.

    3. If you want to believe they're just excuses, go for it.

It's obvious that the series was filmed after HW which is why moves like Elixir Field and BRD LB3 were used. Since it seems like they used the real in game characters for the shooting of the show, most likely the players themselves didn't want to gather the myth gear needed to remove the anachronisms in the gear. A little bit of suspension of disbelief required for knowledgeable FFXIV players but the JDrama wasn't focused on that type of in-game footage in my opinion.

Sorta wish the blog translating the blog while it chronicled this Dad of Light adventure was further along to see if the dad still played. His name's not listed in the blog but the person's blog is and Maidy Maidy is in fact their character... It would have been funny as hell as an FFXIV player to see what might have happened in the case of "My dad plays Monster Hunter, he probably looked up FFXIV blogs... OH SHIT MY BLOG IS ONE OF THE MAIN GUIDES HAS HE FOUND OUT ABOUT ME????"

Ive got 3 episodes left and I love it. It's really funny and relatable. I'd like to see more shows or something like this.
Makes me wish i had chronicled my adventure in a blog from the beginning. It would've made a very dramatic show for sure!

The only thing I dont like is some of the...wierd animations Maidy does before she fights Ifrit and Titan for example. All of the unnecessary notions literally no one does. It just looked silly. And the same goes for the animations made for when Indy was changing clothes (spinning around etc) doesn't happen in-game. Thankfully.

Yes! In 2.X, Bard's LB3 was healer's LB3 too so that does mean that his dad wasn't the one who used LB but someone else....

I'm only a few episodes in but I have to admit I'm enjoying this way more than I ever thought I would.
