Did you ignore the rest of my post? Let me break it down for you.

- FFXIV is a Pay to Play MMO with a monthly subscription.
- The cost is necessary so the devs can keep the lights on and keep producing content that people want so they keep paying the sub fee. So we pay to play and access the content we want to make use of.
- Costumes (glamour), mounts, and emotes are a huge part of why people play MMOs in the first place- it's cool to get stuff for doing stuff. We get some of these things in-game because the devs know that.
- XIV also has a cash shop that sells these things, only you can't get them anywhere else (/playdead, various glamour gear, mounts, and more)
- That is really f***ing greedy and I strongly disagree with its existence

And the more and more they add, the more I feel like SE is going to stop putting them in the game itself. If I wanted to pay for non-essential stuff I'd just cut the costs and play a Korean MMO that locks all the good stuff behind micro-transactions. It'd be cheaper for me and I wouldn't feel stiffed because I would not be paying OVER A HUNDRED DOLLARS A YEAR on top of that. That's where the rub is. I think we should get what they produce since we are already technically paying for it to be made.

I would not mind the Mog Shop's existence so much if there were ways to earn its contents in game. Lock each item behind a huge grindfest the likes of which the world has never seen if you have to.
