Half-Breeds for sure, the Devs have been dancing around this issue for a while since Hilda.

More substantively, I would like some more content concerning ancient Allag. During the Warring Triad Quests, we literally came face to face with ancient Mercedyians who were walking around like their bygone era was yesterday. What if the Scion awaken and, after a few odd misadventures, recruit an ancient Allagan warrior to their organization as a brand new character? We see this all the time in Sci-Fi settings, some ancient being popping out of a cryo-tube/whatever so as to offer a glimpse to an ancient time.

More of Othard in general. The Burn(which may or may not be Bozja) is something I desperately want to see, and there's also plenty of auri stuff that I want more of. The Nhaama, the ancient Xaela civilization and the House of the Crooked Coin, the Raen enclaves that are supposed to be deep in the mountains...

More family trees being fleshed (or grown?) out, please. We don't even know the names of two of the current High Counts of Ishgard, or the name of Nanamo's mother, or Alphinaud and Alisaie's mother, or their paternal grandmother. For a while there, I actually thought their grandmother and mother were both dead.

Also, more magic lore would be cool. It's always fun to speculate on what is and isn't possible with magic.

Anything involving the major city states - their Grand Companies, their local conflicts, their leaders and their approach to major plot developments. Even when they do show up in the main story, it often feels like an afterthought, a token presence. Gridania gets it worst; at least Limsa and (especially) Ul'Dah have worked their way into the main story in some way, but the near-removal of Gridania's most interesting elements (the Elementals) has made it feel much less fleshed out than its counterparts.

That aside, I want more of a connection between gameplay mechanics and lore - specifically, though far from restricted to, gear and its acquisition.

It seems silly to me that there is no mini-narrative behind major gear sets like the Tomestone or artefact ones. The former all follow a distinct theme each tier; would it be so hard to give a mini-quest (or even just a short little intro cutscene) when each is introduced, so that we get a sense of what this stuff is and what inspired its aesthetic? The latter is even more glaring; I know that the AF2 had narrative in the lore book, but why that couldn't have been woven into Job Quests is beyond me. And then of course there's stuff like the Anima weapons, which had creation lore but not naming lore. Just a line from Gerolt telling me why he named these new Monk fists Verethragna or Nyepels would go a long way, and help show more of his weapon enthusiast side as well!

This can extend to a number of things. Quest rewards are almost entirely unrelated from the quests that give them 90% of the time. Job abilities are entirely unconnected the narrative that is mandatory for acquiring them (this is especially egregious). Yoshida has time and again said how important it is that FFXIV tell a story; why, then, does that buck stop at quest lines? Should not every element of your world tell a story? I understand the need for gameplay and story segregation in some areas, but there is frankly no good reason why these (and others) should undergo that.

I'm a sucker for lost tech so I'd love to see anything Allagan. I'd also like more about Keepers of the Moon- they're outlaws in Gridania with a matriarchal society and generally keep to themselves, but beyond that there's not much to say. We've actually seen several Seeker tribes now but only a few scattered Keeper NPCs. Also I know it might be silly, but I love ancient ruins and I want to know about all the broken bridges, buildings, and statues way out in the middle of the mountains in the Peaks and Lochs. I keep going "COOL! What's this? What was it used for?! WHY IS IT HERE?" as I fly around. It's probably stuff the devs put there so weirdos like me would get excited but they have no particular lore or meaning other than "flavour" behind them.

I'd love to see one of those so-called good Garlean legions/provinces that we've heard about but have never been shown. Especially after SE went out of their way to portray the XIIth Legion as stupidly evil mustache twirling villains who probably kick babies and drown puppies just to show off how evil they are.

I primarily want to see more of Garlemald, particularly the elements that are more along the lines of Regula.

I want to see more Raen as I feel like they're very poorly represented at the moment. I really wish they'd shelved Roegadyn in Othard and given us Raen in their place instead.

I want to see more Duskwight stuff, though I fear we've missed the window of opportunity for that to happen.

I want to see more of the darker elements of the protagonists and city states.

I want to see more conflict between the protagonists. I want to see some of them come to loathe and even betray each other. It'd feel more naturally them always coming to agree and tolerate one another, I feel.

I want to learn of Varis' reaction to his best friend's demise. How does he feel about it? Did the news cause his cool and aloof visage to crack and crumble? With the Echo being a thing, there's an easy enough route there to have more of their relationship explored.

Heck, it's pretty much salivation-worthy just to ponder over how the Sohm Al or Aery gear got there or would have been used by whoever was present before. In the first's case, were they dragon-riders? Mountain-people allied with them? Or take the smuggler's attire (especially in connection with Neverreap)—there are whole branches of content and mechanics that would seem to run underneath these simple dungeon gear sets, and yet their names and appearances are the only taste we get.

I've always assumed they were artifacts from the joint Elezen & Dravinian civilisation that predated Ishgard (which I've also always assumed was named Avalonia, going by the map names, but I don't think that's ever been confirmed). They've left ruins everywhere and I'd really like to ask a few dragons about those days, especially now a few of them seem to be quietly trying to recreate it.

Bigger question: Why does Nidhogg keep pots of purple dye all over his home?
