What areas of lore would you like to see more of?

What current areas or prospects of lore, or even entirely new possibilities, would you like to see covered more or enter the game? How? Through short-story posts, in-game plotlines, hinted lore?

Additionally... has anyone tried their own hand at any XIV-themed creative writing, for shits-and-giggles or otherwise?

Definitely want to know about the third clan of au ra. Koji mentioned it a while back. Maybe in the 4.x series.

I think it was wise to bring a lot of "classical" Final Fantasy flavor to XIV to infuse it with nostalgia and history while things were revamped and propped up, but in the end, I'd like to see it all circle back around and raise OG XIV themes back up for a while. We're well beyond accusations of reinventing the wheel and they should be able to stand on their own.

"Bigger and better" has a tendency to eventually undermine a story's foundations, after all.

The Ascian arc has the most on the line, but it's also the most invisible. Hopefully it can be ended before it draws out overlong, but not in a way that feels like the game itself should be over. I want to see it come back around to Sharlayan and Mor Dhona, and ("with the reins of history in the hands of man") force us to start cleaning up things we never thought we'd have to deal with, or never even knew got band-aided over during the war of the crystals.

I want to know what was up with the giant sea serpents and why they're so much of an anomaly yet so irrelevant to the story.

I want to see piracy rise again in the New World's "Carribean", even if for a while we only hear the tales in Lominsa as crews come and go and the status quo shifts.

I want to see the Elementals / woodsin / greenwrath / wildlings explored again as the forest struggles to recover.

I want to see a few of those "better" legions of the Empire that exist only in hearsay.

I want to see whatever Garlemald actually is (for better or worse) rather than seeing it vicariously through the eyes of the conquered and the brutes they send to control its fringes.

EDIT: Oh, and I want some more of the old, boring clothes back, lol. Eorzean chic is increasingly polarized between [new, flashy, exciting, expensive] and [dirt poor, often not even clean]. Meanwhile, too many pieces that are still missing; the bliauds with variable broaches and chains, wooden (half-)masks without gems, upper tiers of ALC gown-jackets with the shoulderpads. Magnifiers never made a meaningful comeback. 2017 and you still can't dress fully like a 'Cuda officer or Wood Wailer or anything.

More of the pre-allagan eras. The one that brought down the sun by oversaturated praise thus roasting all of thanalan is especially interesting to me.

Other than that, more flavour text. More every-day lore i guess you could call it.

I'm still confused by that one, due to the questions it raises about the actual existence of deities. Is it actually the people's fault? Or are historians just assuming the causes for that particular Calamity?

More broadly, I'd also like to know about both pre-Allagan eras, and the one post-Allagan era. Which works out to be any era that isn't Allagan, Magi, or the Sixth/Seventh Astral. Pre-Allagan might be less relevant to the present day due to being too long ago, but the Fourth Astral/Fifth Umbral is basically just "everyone hated knowledge, so nobody bothered to keep records".

If I were more cynical, I'd guess that the lack of information about 4A/5U is from the lore team running out of ideas, and just plastering a big "Nothing happened here, move along" sign over the gap.

I would like to see more involvement with the relic story line. The story so far is great too bad it takes a while to release it. By the time it comes out it's almost on par with raid.

I really want to explore more of the Shard Worlds, especially the three or so that still actually exist.

In terms of general aesthetics and cultures, we've seen almost all Real World cultures have Hydaelyn analogues now except anywhere from Sub-Saharan Africa so I'd like to see something like that in game.

I'd like to get more history and culture for all of the game's races. How/when did the separate clans form for each race? While its been neat seeing so many Hellsguard in Orthard, it still isn't a race we hear much about outside the Encyclopedia Eorzea or the WAR quests. Similarity most of what we have learned about the Duskwrights has been anecdotal, despite the fact that it seems like the only place they live is the Shroud.

This is kind of a mess right now.

1.0 implied that the races had many clans and that the clans we knew were quite recent. For example, it suggested that the Dunesfolk arose when the Lalafell of the southern archipelago adapted to Thanalan with the rise of Belah'dia. The Wildwood arose as the Elezen were driven into the woods by Hyuran migration while Duskwight remained adapted to the caves after Gridania was founded. It suggested that the Midlanders were the "Default Hyuran Setting" but that the Highlanders had adapted to Gyr Abania. It suggested that the Hellsguard had adapted to the volcanic reaches of the Farreach.

But that's a double-edged sword: the character creator only knows those settings. If you ever meet someone that should break those conventions, they have to make unique character models, and it's only worth doing for big NPCs like Gosetsu. Otherwise you have to fudge it and make do, like Minfilia and the Domans and the Ishgardians.

You see a Highlander from Dalmasca and it's like, "What in the Seventh Hell is going on?"

Not to mention the Triad card that says Highlanders domesticated sheep in the Age of Endless Frost.

And that's assuming parts of it weren't just retconned out.
