People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
I know, and I would have loved a WildStar kind of housing in FFXIV. Mostly I expected the same thing as FFXI, with everyone having their own instance of a home...
I'm salty as f*ck that I can't get a house (mostly because I started playing "seriously" rather late and will never be able to afford a spot), but whenever there was a feature I thought might be good in game, and had been suggested here, the answer was ALWAYS "give up, we asked, they can't".
Even for the smallest of QOL (which was "a repair everything button"). They did rework the game into something I enjoy playing, they did invest a lot of time, money and effort into that. So, I hate that I can't ever get a house, but I understand that they're not going to revamp housing from scratch just because of people like me.
Also I'm guessing the amount of players to whom housing is paramount, is not that high. I mean, I'd rather play without it than stop playing to get it...
This is me too. People are constantly spouting stuff like "put your money where your mouth is, the only thing SE will listen to is a drop in subs" okay well I'm not willing to give up the game I enjoy just to maybe prove a point. That's like shooting myself in the foot to try to spite someone else.
Correct, I tried loging in the split second servers went up. I was disconnected twice. When I was finally able past that point I entered a 15 min queue. When I got in the game everything was gone.Don't know how it worked on Gilgamesh but last time they added new area, some server had no more houses left 2 or 3 minutes after server opened :/
Most of the players were still in log queue that all the plot were already taken and re-sold for 5 or 6 times the normal price
Upgrade servers plz, so we can have more housing and fix this issue too:
Not our problem. If they had done it properly from the beginning they would not have to rework it.
A limited amount of houses ? In a MMO nowadays ? Come on, you just need to play MMOs to know it's not gonna work cause a lot of people love this kind of "useless" (in opposition to dungeons and raid for stuff for example)thing.
Just look at the mess Archeage has been with their limited plot and how people praise Wildstarn Rift, EQ2 etc for their housing
I don't think its impossible for SE to revamp housing. They just have to do it like they revamp'd the fighting system in stormblood. Make it come with the expansion and give everyone a notice ahead of time that its coming. Scrap it all, and rebuild.
The thing with Se is that they really have a hard time admitting they screwed something. At first, they did it but as time passes, I have the feeling they are getting a little bit cocky (hope it's not an insult when used in English ^^")
Maybe it's because of the V.1

They need to increase the number of wards. Screw instanced housing, you lose the immersion and neighbourhood charm.
How many people do you see out in the neighborhoods? Even on Balmung, unless someone is hosting an rp event on the Mist's beaches, the wards are usually ghost towns.
