Running Bardam's Mettle on my AST last night. It was getting really late and I was tired. At one point in the run, I accidentally cast Benefic on a DPS instead of giving them a card, which caused the shire geared, double pulling, zero cooldown using DRK to die. Later into the run, I ended up hitting Collective Unconsciousness for absolutely no discernable reason.

I think my subconscious was telling me to go to sleep at that point. I wisely listened instead of queueing for another.

Had a strange run in TotF today as DRK. Healer (AST) was pretty good, and DPS (RDM friend + a PUG RDM) were melting everything down. But one pull just got weird.

There's two stretches before the second boss. The first stretch isn't gated, but pull enough, and you get swarmed by little Coblyns on top of your group. There's also a line AoE "trap" right before this, which you can run through.

I sprinted to get this big pull underway and avoid the traps. I lingered in one right before it went off to AoE aggro all the adds, then kept going. Except... right before my AoE goes off, I get pulled away.

Huh?

Little disorientated, but I complete the pull, because I think my AoE has grabbed all the adds. Except... not. I cue in to find the DPS getting munched on, plus one add on the healer. I grab 'em all as soon as I can, start setting up for DA+AD --

Annnnd the healer is behind me and getting cleaved.

The pull almost fell apart right there. I popped Living Dead and had it go off; thankfully, the healer got me to full before I died. The healer stayed around 10-20% herself, but we got it under control. The rest of the dungeon went fine, minus the PUG RDM dying to the last boss. (When the dude's casting his distance AoE, get away!)

I'm still trying to figure out what happened during that pull. Obviously I wasn't on my A-game and should've been paying better attention. But I have no idea what blew me back. All I can think is that the healer thought I was going to get hit by the trap AoE and tried to Rescue me back to safety, and it went wrong.

Definitely one way to wake your tank up.

Well. Do a random dungeon as a DRK. Get Tam-Tara. Okay. I haven't tanked for a year. I let the party know "I haven't tanked in awhile, sorry for any mistakes".

I want to take this at a pace best for me, because I haven't done this in awhile. I only got DRK to level 35 before tank anxiety happened.

So what happens? Get grouped up with a bunch of rude people who feel the need to pull for me because "I'm going too slow".

Cool. Not gonna let this beat me down because I've already dealt with the same bull from a mentor once. But wow, is it hard to say "can you speed up a little?" or you know, not be a complete and utter tool?

I queued up on DRK, which I haven't used in ages. Got Tam-tara! Got a drg and thm. "great!" I thought "we have aoe! Time to do big pulls!"

Except...

Thm casts: sleep. sleep. sleep. sleep.
runs out of mp, casts blizzard1. once.
sleep. sleep. sleep.

I tried everything I could to get the attention of this bizarre thm (and yes, on a single target boss, they woudl STILL CAST SLEEP). They only had french ticked, so I was using all the autotranslate phrases I could to try and make them cast something, ANYTHING that WASN'T. SLEEP.

We ended up kicking them because they just weren't... contributing. And I had to pull small after, and the drg went on ahead and pulled for me ANYWAY a couple times.

Tanking is hell.

Tanking expert roulette. Ala Mhigo. Easy enough. Group damage seems reasonably solid, healer is on the ball. All is fine until for some reason the MCH decides that I'm not going fast enough, or something, and starts running ahead to facepull things. Which as any tank knows, just makes it annoying to round everything up for AoE. I comment on it while we're near the end of the dungeon asking why he's feeling the need to do that since I was hardly pulling slowly. No response from him, the healer calls him a douche. I hesitate for a moment as we're getting to the final trash pack with the two iron giants, and the healer and other DPS stay with me as the MCH runs off and facepulls them. And then we watch him die.

It's nice when your group silently bands together to punish someone who's being a dingbat. His nonstop stream of complaining about it afterwards was icing on the cake. Does that make me petty and vindictive? Absolutely, and I would do it again any time I have a group of a similar mindset.

Made it to my first Ixion fate today - managed to get 90k'd right at the end and came back to a dead Ixion. ._.

Man that's rough..... sorry to hear. I still haven't made it to one, so hopefully we both have better Ixion luck in the future.

So, this isnt really a horror story or anything, but a friend and I did an expert roulette a few days ago.
We load in and he goes "Wow, three FemRoes here, maybe I should start playing the lottery!"

And indeed - his tank (me) was obviously a FemRoe... the healer was a FemRoe... the other BLM however... was a male AuRa, which I pointed out a tiny bit hurt. Left him a bit puzzled for the rest of the run.
(I also reminded him that in regards of FemRoes and the lottery he had already won when we got married a few weeks ago)
Other than that the run was fine though - WHM did very well, despite it being their first time and while the AuRa-BLM was... not so great, but all in all a typical run except for that little confusion.
