People (and especially in such huge numbers) play races and genders for various different reasons. Please don't generalize.
Also, art is subjective. Not everyone will / has to enjoy specific things.

Also, the events are not "just" for people who allready play the game. They will be promoted in- and outside of it, on wbesites, facebook, twitter [...] which means a lot of people will get to see it. Good / nice Art with popular races (female Miqo'te) can bring in more customers. So, again, it is a good marketing choice.

I didn't say that "Cute waifu" thing towards the players...I'm saying it towards the artist who continue to choose the same races to display as.
The Nekos and petite little female types are obviously popular in Japan...so it's no wonder.
Maybe I should of clarified that since you thought otherwise.

First off, I appreciate your comment. I enjoy playing a Femroe and finding glamours that suit her.

Secondly, in recent memory, the only Femroes I can recall seeing, and having a prominent place, in official art are Merlwyb and a single generic (and somewhat brutish) Femroe in a countdown image.

It's really no wonder that Femroes are the least played of all the races, especially when they're typically portrayed as ugly, or at best, brutish. Part of me finds this ironic because (and correct me if I'm wrong here), Miqo'te are ruthless hunters as far as the lore is concerned, yet they're typically portrayed as cute, mischievous cat people.

You think that's bad? Xaela are warmongers (More info in MSQ/Azim Steppe) and meanwhile
the meanest person there looks like a tiny, petite anime character that's about 5'2 lol.
She doesn't seem all that intimidating, maybe because of her skin colour?

It is a JPN thing it is in there anime aswell, Neko's, cat girls etc.

The more I think about this, the more annoyed I get. Why even bother giving us a dyable set of Shisui gear if you're only going to give us 60% of the set?

The head piece is my favourite part of the shisui sets, a dyeable one would have been lovely.

Events are promoted outside of the game in a fashion that informs current players that they're upcoming, or ongoing. Perhaps I'm wrong, and I'll rightfully admit to being so if that's the case, but I've personally never seen FFXIV marketed directly through a seasonal event. Sure, there could very well be a group of people that would be willing to try FFXIV because they saw some Miqo'te butt on the front page of the website, but I'm fairly certain that those numbers are on the dismal side and could very well be considered negligible.

Agreed. I'm big on complete sets and this idea of leaving out two pieces of the set makes me sort of not even want to bother with it.

Exactly. So no surprise that the Neko's are poster girls for everything.
Kinda reminds me of TERA, but the Loli's rule the world in that game...

Man, it's been a long time since I've seen that image. I had completely forgotten about it. The Femroe there also looks great in the sense that she's not portrayed as a brute. It's too bad that she's not in a more prominent position in that image, but for what it's worth, I would love to see more portrayal like that.

If they want to expand their userbase they should mix things up a little to lure in more demographics. With Heavensward, Elezen went from basically extinct on my server to a (niche) option more people tried out. With MMOs, seeing a cool portrayal of a particular race/gender combo increases interest in it whereas when people are showered with imagery of sexy catgirls in underwear all of the time, that becomes their idea of what's normal. I have nothing against sexy catgirls in underwear in particular, but I do like a bit of visual diversity in the artwork from time to time. The most recent calendar did a good job of this. The Maelstrom Roegadyn beach party artwork made the purchase worthwhile all on its own.

Well, I don't really mind. My room has enough pictures of the goddess Merlwyb in it to dilute the cutesy promotional art poster furnishings nicely.

I'm probably setting myself up for disappointment here, but does this imply we are also getting a dyeable version of the Summer Morning swimset?
