If you're male, we've had recycled Valentione's outfits and recycled coatees for All Saints Wake. Heck, even the cool Halloween waistcoats were a male-only GS item made unisex, with a cape added to make things spookier :s
(Not saying I like it, just that there's a precedent for this kind of rehashing.)

Yukatas are summer garnets. People wear them in summer festivals. What did the yukata or the posing ranger outfits have to do with summer? Not a whole lot.
I know you always want to see SE in the best light, but any way you look at it, this was a cheap cop-out as far as event rewards go. They could have easily made the Shisui dungeon sets dyeable. Instead they give us a minorly edited copy of one of those sets that is dyeable (which also suggests we'll probably never see dyeable Shisui). No other event reward has been a copy of an existing in-game item.
It's been explained again and again that devs can only do so much. SB was released less than two months ago, yet we've got two new updates with new endgame sets, plus some decorative headgears and a new glamour set that was added out of the blue. Everyone seems to forget about all that for the convenience of complaining about how the devs owe them their very souls, but the thing is that the devs are giving us new ingame sets. Perhaps they shouldn't have added Omega and the Asian glamour set at all, so that they could have given a different reward in the summer event? (I personally wouldn't like that).
I just wish people were more fair to the devs instead of calling them lazy, when it's clear that they ARE doing things, and they ARE giving us things.
Yes, and those updates included a non-previously-announced and now-conveniently-forgotten glamour set, which also took its sweet development time. So we got that set AND the altered, dyeable version of Shisui, instead of just a single set for Moonfire. I don't know about you, but I believe we got something good.
As for the cash shop complaints, it's a very old topic and I don't want to go into that kind of argument again. It's clear we have different opinions about how good or bad it is ;;

The concept behind it was. It's a big thing in Japan for kids to go see super hero stage shows in the summer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jN2IvhTPD58&NR=1 . There's shows like that all over Japan year-round, but for long school breaks especially.
Interesting! That's actually pretty neat. The concept behind it was. It's a big thing in Japan for kids to go see super hero stage shows in the summer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jN2IvhTPD58&NR=1 . There's shows like that all over Japan year-round, but for long school breaks especially.
So now that I think about it, that makes the situation kind of reversed to what I'd initially said. The dyeable shisui is an outfit tied to the religion of the group of Raen living beneath the sea. Distinctly NOT summer-related. Though tbh I don't really care if it's summer related or not. I still think it was a huge cop-out to toss us a single dyeable dungeon set (all but guaranteeing we won't see dyeable actual Shisui, as well) for what is usually one of their larger holiday events. Perhaps if they'd released dyeable versions of all the different Shisui outfits, it might be bearable. But it feels like SE's just trying to shut us up about dyeable gear while giving themselves an easy out.

I'm not saying you can't, but just calling someone greedy and expecting things to be fixed isn't criticism, it's just being a child.Or instead of wanting people to stop playing something that they still like in some aspects, maybe accept that criticism is a important part in the company-customer relationship? I mean if everyone just stops because they find something bad instead of just complaining about it..well you might not be able to play FF14 anymore since they need people to continue the game. Also criticism is a good way for them to improve thus making the game better for everyone. Its way better than just seeing the numbers of sub dropping without them knowing why.
Sometimes I do get the feeling like some take criticism toward SE as a personal attack..
You can, you absolutely can. I never said you couldn't, but the way this thing has gone down for you is as if it's the end of the world. Yes, you'd want them to fix the shortcomings, but I hardly believe an outfit is something to make a fuss about, yet here people are talking about how vanity is the end all be all when it comes to XIV.Nice strawman. You can like a game and still criticize it. It's doubly important to do so in a constantly evolving game like this one, a MMO which represents years of investment for most active players.
It's not black and white. If you love a game and plan to play it for the years to come, you want it to fix its shortcomings.
Mog Station is run by a separate team from what they told us. But the way I see it, it isn't worth the trouble to change the current rewards, but fair enough, if you're worried next year's rewards, all the power to you. I don't personally care because I'm still having fun playing the game.Again, this event is such a big issue because of the Fuga set. There is no "taking a break" or "focusing on more important things", they had enough ressources to do a full set and they chose to release it on the mog station, and now we have recycled gear for an event. It's greedy and you shouldn't let them get away with it or it will become the norm, unless you want a WoW situation where all the best looking mounts are on the cash shop ?
I also would like to remind everyone that event rewards are not locked to expansions, people who are playing 2.0 will get these rewards as well, people who are playing 3.0 will get these rewards as well.

Again with the ad hominems.
Strawman again. Please don't ignore the rest of my arguments, I'm tired of repeating myself. You can, you absolutely can. I never said you couldn't, but the way this thing has gone down for you is as if it's the end of the world. Yes, you'd want them to fix the shortcomings, but I hardly believe an outfit is something to make a fuss about, yet here people are talking about how vanity is the end all be all when it comes to XIV.
Yes it's something to fuss about. Vanity is an important part of all kind of games, particularly long-term ones like this one, and cash shop exclusive sets and emotes set a really bad precedent if that's where their vanity effort goes into, something that's being proven lately (less launch skins, recycled crafted sets, recycled event set).
Thinking that an actual team is putting in extra work for mog station items is naive at best. If it was true we'd have, for one, far more exclusive stuff in it (not that it would be a good thing). The team running it is making the decisions, not the content.
And don't think I'm not having fun with the game, but I'll keep giving my complaints if something rubs me the wrong way. Remember that lack of criticism never benefits anyone or anything in any way.

Exactly, yukata are designed for warm weather as they are thinner and lighter making them common during summer, especially at traditional summer festivals. They are very comfortable and the "airiness" they provide is very welcome with how hot and humid a Japanese summer can be. I am also quite fond of jinbei and a pair of shorts.
The whole Moonfire Fair is based loosely off Obon, the primary summer "holiday" in Japan that includes lots of summer festivals complete with food vendors and stage shows, huge fireworks shows and families visiting temples to leave offerings to their ancestors. It is one of the two biggest holiday seasons in Japan with the other being Hanami in the spring where people go to view the cherry blossoms blooming.
With my family being from Omagari in the Akita prefecture, which is home to the National Fireworks Competition in late August, Obon was always a big to-do when I would visit my family there during the summer.
Reminiscing aside ...
Yukata are associated with Moonfire Fair because of it's association with Obon and yukata being traditional summer festival wear.
The whole ranger thing is because of the stage shows that are common place at the summer festivals.
The bomb dance is based off the bon odori (bon dance).
The whole bombs (the monsters) and fireworks theme is self explanatory because of Obon and fireworks.
Speaking of Moonfire Faire being inspired by Obon, they need to add the following as future seasonal rewards for it.
- A small festival stage with strings of lanterns on it to place in your yard.
- A fireworks tube that you can place in your yard that can be interacted with and will shoot off a firework.
- Festival masks such as Hyotoko, Okame and Tengu masks.
