Or instead of wanting people to stop playing something that they still like in some aspects, maybe accept that criticism is a important part in the company-customer relationship? I mean if everyone just stops because they find something bad instead of just complaining about it..well you might not be able to play FF14 anymore since they need people to continue the game. Also criticism is a good way for them to improve thus making the game better for everyone. Its way better than just seeing the numbers of sub dropping without them knowing why.

Sometimes I do get the feeling like some take criticism toward SE as a personal attack..

And they've said Stormblood was even more daunting due to the amount of changes being made, yet they wanted to push through and maintain their schedule. Basically, they have a similar workload but aren't taking a break. Thus, less important things won't be a major priority. That's... not really surprising.

We got less content in SB then in HW (no new race, only two jobs, same manner in which they will release content, lots of recycled gear in dungeons and more) so if this would be way more taxing, then it would be quite concerning. Anyway like someone has pointed out, instead of giving us that one item as a cash shop only item, they could have used this as unique glamour item. Yet they decided to put it into the cash shop again while the event itself only has a reworked gear set. I just hope that at least the quest itself would be more than the gold saucer event one.

While I agree with the part where SE (and some players) should accept criticism, but to be fair, there's quite a bit of work going into creating the new skills and re-balancing of class/pvp in SB too. Whether those effort pay off is another topic though. At the end of the day, the seasonal events usually alternate between "good" and "bad" rewards. If you find this one "bad", just hope the next one is better I guess?

On a side note, was there ever any seasonal event that received so much backslash before it even launch? (Well there's the youkai event but that's a cross-over event instead.)

I just question why we need so many "events" if its so taxing to create good unique items for them? Why not make it four events per year (each for a season) with a nice small quest line with a bit of story but otherwise lots of stuff to farm for. You know Rift is a F2P game thus you have lots of stuff in their cash shop but still their summer event is truly a event unlike most of our events in FF14. (It is my first one in Rift so not sure how the others are going to be) You can still earn quite a lot of prices through ingame methods and you have them back next year thus new people can try this too.

In the end SE focused on story again when they do their events and often forget the gameplay after that. All the work that they have put into the cutscenes could have been put into ingame items. And if they on top of that put the old rewards back to the NPCs so that new people could get them ingame too, you would have way "bigger" events with more stuff to do. My first summer event in FF14 was the one with the many many swimsuites..If you wanted them all you had to deliver quite the items but it was fun. The same with stuff like the crime scene in the gold saucer event which was less prices but the journey to it. Compare the last gold saucer event to that.

Or just the halloween one with the spooky mansion. That was so funny.

(Also they create more and more housing items for these events...while most people dont even own houses..>_>)

I'm not saying you can't, but just calling someone greedy and expecting things to be fixed isn't criticism, it's just being a child.

Nice strawman. You can like a game and still criticize it. It's doubly important to do so in a constantly evolving game like this one, a MMO which represents years of investment for most active players.
It's not black and white. If you love a game and plan to play it for the years to come, you want it to fix its shortcomings.

You can, you absolutely can. I never said you couldn't, but the way this thing has gone down for you is as if it's the end of the world. Yes, you'd want them to fix the shortcomings, but I hardly believe an outfit is something to make a fuss about, yet here people are talking about how vanity is the end all be all when it comes to XIV.

Again, this event is such a big issue because of the Fuga set. There is no "taking a break" or "focusing on more important things", they had enough ressources to do a full set and they chose to release it on the mog station, and now we have recycled gear for an event. It's greedy and you shouldn't let them get away with it or it will become the norm, unless you want a WoW situation where all the best looking mounts are on the cash shop ?

Mog Station is run by a separate team from what they told us. But the way I see it, it isn't worth the trouble to change the current rewards, but fair enough, if you're worried next year's rewards, all the power to you. I don't personally care because I'm still having fun playing the game.

I also would like to remind everyone that event rewards are not locked to expansions, people who are playing 2.0 will get these rewards as well, people who are playing 3.0 will get these rewards as well.

Yes it's something to fuss about. Vanity is an important part of all kind of games, particularly long-term ones like this one, and cash shop exclusive sets and emotes set a really bad precedent if that's where their vanity effort goes into, something that's being proven lately (less launch skins, recycled crafted sets, recycled event set).
Thinking that an actual team is putting in extra work for mog station items is naive at best. If it was true we'd have, for one, far more exclusive stuff in it (not that it would be a good thing). The team running it is making the decisions, not the content.

And don't think I'm not having fun with the game, but I'll keep giving my complaints if something rubs me the wrong way. Remember that lack of criticism never benefits anyone or anything in any way.

Nailed it. It's why I prefer to discuss on Reddit, while there are as many fans as here, most people don't go white knight mode when they see the company doing something wrong.
