Some AOE skills for some jobs were completely removed, and the remaining skills are pretty taxing, resource-wise. Even BRD, which still has pretty decent AOE, got an AOE nerf in SB (limiting River of Blood trait to Mage's Ballad duration, removal of Flaming Arrow). That doesn't stop me from AOEing when I need to but just something to keep in mind. I frequently find myself being the only one doing any sort of AOE rotation, and Invigorate/Tactician still have cooldown timers, so I can't just spam Quick Nock for eternity.

Plus, AOE for some melee are even worse resource-wise. I love SAM, and their AOE is great damage-wise, but 140 TP per AOE skill is pretty hefty. It's easy to run out of TP, and if you're the only one doing any AOE, you won't have enough to down an overly large pack before your resources run out. And it really sucks if you don't have another DPS to give you Goad or Tactician.

Speaking from an AST perspective, I find I can't Gravity as much as I would like to due to MP costs. Plus AST DPS was nerfed in SB, and our MP regen is not as good as it used to be. WHMs have no excuse after level 62 unless they're dealing with the worst kind of paper tank. Thin Air + Holy spam for 12 seconds is a godsend.

Still. People should be AOEing when they can. I know that RDM's only have 2 AOE skills, but better to use them in huge trash packs than single target Ver spells. Same can be said for BLMs and Fire II.
