I've been a crafter since ARR and I'm really enjoying myself in SB. In both ARR and HW there was much more of a "One True Way" to craft. I feel SB is much more flexible. I have played around with all sorts of different combinations of the old and new skills, just to see how different approaches work. I have never followed any one person's rotation or method and have developed my own ways, but I feel that SB is much friendlier to this mindset than ARR and HW were.

If... the Master Book would give us Potions.

The Lack of Recipes, now compare with Heavensward, is abysmal. It is not much in the end.
Look at Culinarian Master Book from Stormblood, it adds only 3 Recipes, 3-frigging-Recipes...

I get the Feeling... the older FFXIV gets, the lesser we get to Gather/Craft in the end.
Not surprised if they put 3* and 4* Recipes into the same Master Book 5 Tab, just showing us how "Much" Recipes they have added in total to Stormblood *ahem*

That is actually one thing I like. You make a mistake or accidental button press (come on who hasn't) it doesn't feel like a complete loss since you can take a different path now to make up for it. Instead of taking 20 steps to make something depending on RNG you can finish it in much less if you decide to take that path. The downside is I feel like there is a bit of button bloat now. Almost makes you wonder if you get an action gauge for these classes

On a side note seen a lot of people complain for more Eastern Gear, nearly forgetting that Ala Mhigo is another area we liberated and should be getting more crafts from there too.

One thing I'm wondering is because of the amount of recipes, are the devs reluctant to add more until they do an overhaul of the lists. It feels like it's becoming a bit too bloated to deal with these lists and if anything, I'd love to see more QoL changes soon. I see that they tabbed the list, but one thing that needs to be done is searching for an item based on recipe. There are so many mats in the game and when something drops or someone links something asking what it's for...I feel like it's crazy to go through the list to find what it belongs to if you don't know off hand. Yes you get a general idea, but some mats like a Ruby Cotton Boll now shows up as a CUL craft or those Persimmons being an ALC craft as well.

Also I'd like to see the ability to bring up the fish guide if I'm looking for a fish for used in a recipe (on ones we have found, not ones yet to be discovered).

I'm very disappointed in the new Master books- even more so disappointed in the fact that a lot of the gear they did give us are already within the game.

Garland Data does that. Every crafter can benefit from running two monitors, with one of them open to Garland Tools.

It works reasonably well via Firefox on my Galaxy S6 and S7 smartphones, too.

The Eorzea database right here on the lodestone and FFXIVDB also can list for what recipes an item uses. I believe Gamer Escape wiki does as well, but being as it's user-contributed the lists tend to be incomplete.

On the subject of the master books, and crafting in general, I'm a little disappointed as well. I wanted dyeable WoD gear for sure, but first of all, WHERE IS THE LOTA GEAR SE COME OOOONNNNNNNN and secondly, it just no longer feels rewarding to put in the work to getting to end game and melding. It's a long long grind to get all your crafters and gatherers to 70, and then another to get all that materia, but it hardly feels worth it. I'm still holding out hope for a set of more difficult crafts to actually make this work pay off, but I doubt we're going to be seeing it, and if we do, it won't be for a long time yet.

I'm fully aware you can do it outside the game. However, this is a QoL change that should be implemented IN their game. Especially if you want to link the item IN game that the mat is for. It's entirely too clunky to do it the way it is now. Basically I'd have to search for the recipe, where if they made this QoL change you'd get the recipe and can link the item it crafts for.

    Exactly my Mind.

When I got all Books and used the Culinarian Book and it said 3 Recipes unlocked I was like "Whaaaaat?!".
Not like in Hell I gonna share a Market with hundreds of Players being Culinarian and you got less to choose from, because one of those 3 Food Recipes, no all are being bloated on the Marketboard.

Next time maybe give us 1 Recipe each Master Book, Dear Developement Team, or whoever made that Decision, ...

I made a post a bit ago about Prudent Touch being too op. Prudent Touch is the main offender here. There is NO way this ability should cost 21 CP.

I said it before and I'll say it again, devs are going overboard with their aim of making this game "accessible". Everyone complained about Heavensward job specific gear and it being too much work with all the Favor mats. Well it's been downhill since then with Ironworks being so easy to acquire. Now we're not even required to be Specialist anymore to make top-tier gear and can easily do it 100% via macro. JOKE!

Yeah crafting is a straight joke now with prudent touch. You should never be able to 100% HQ TWO STAR gear with next to no melds with a macro. It just feels dirty.
