That's why they are just called Dragoon with a wyvern! But I like the idea of Shar dragoons teaming up with the wyverns and the Ishgard dragoons fighting against them. It looks like we just need Dragoon Fantasy Online.

Yes Yes Yes that's what I am talking about. So in a way DRGS WILL have Wyverns.Edit: I also found this pretty neat for those who use "They never had them before" as their arguement
Google FTW
Dragoons are powerful physical attackers that wield various types of spears and lances. They wear special armor meant to invoke the imagery of dragons, including helmets shaped like a dragon's head, spikes, and wing and scale designs. Dragoons are sometimes more directly tied to dragons, such as owning them as pets or otherwise befriending them. The trademark ability of Dragoons is Jump, which allows them to leap into the air, avoiding attacks while airborne, and descending later to impale enemies and deal heavy damage. Some Dragoons can upgrade Jump to Double Jump, which does increased damage. Another recurring Dragoon ability is Lancet, sometimes called Dragon Sword, which allows them to attack an opponent and drain their HP and MP to heal themselves
If a wyvern does become an option someday, I would prefer it stay smaller, so as to not be in the way so much.
Maybe a little bigger than XI's, but not huge. I feel it should look cool/fierce, but hey, I'd accept cute too.. lol
I just never really liked HUGE pets blocking the target enemy from sight. XD Like XI's summons.

I am a sucker for storyline and when i come up with ideas I usually have a backstory or a "script" so to speak to help bolster ideas further. One reason why I love SE, they give me epic storylines to fall in love with with every game they release and some of the animes they poke their hands in.
Thats it, the quest I mentioned earlier could be given by a Dragoon envoy from that City State to the Dragoons of our land to "Teach" us the alternate ways of the Dragoon. One where you do not kill the dragons but befriend and fight alongside. By accepting this quest you are heading towards a path to pet class styled dragoon and by ignoring it you get to remain the Dragoon that everyone seems to favor.
For those who may want to try a quest can be added for both sides where you go through a "Cleansing" ceremony to either wash away the sin of killing dragons or the taint of befriending dragons. This is only here should you regret your decision but would be a pain to code i'd assume.
In the end it comes down to player choice and nobody is harmed except the dev team for having to divide a job in two or create a similar job to please both sides.

I don't think having a wyvern the same size as a drake would be any problem since we fight cluttered link fights anywayIf a wyvern does become an option someday, I would prefer it stay smaller, so as to not be in the way so much.

Maybe they could make it stay a certain distance away from your character (a lot further than XI). Or (I know this is a bit over the top) be able to press a button to activate wyvern placement mode to use your camera stick to stick it away from your character.

This is just what I would prefer. But I wouldn't be disappointed it it was bigger. X3 Your idea of a wyvern might work just as well or better than mine. :3 Apologies if it seemed my post was directed towards you.I don't think having a wyvern the same size as a drake would be any problem since we fight cluttered link fights anywayDrake size is perfect in my mind. Sadly as I am looking at this poll on the first Page of this thread... I am seeing that majority of people don;t want wyvern in the DRG job.
Numbers as of now:
Don't want Wyvern ---> 208
Want a Wyvern: ---> 68

I'm hopeing its because they simply can't stand the looks of the little cute wyverns xi had. We could MAKE these new wyverns look so much better~

Take into consideration that is only the number in our boards, the JP/EU/ETC boards may be opposite or the exact same nobody knows. Just keep your head up and fight for what you want. Maybe in the end we will come to some sorta compromise everyone can agree on.
Note: I edited my previous google facts post to add more proof that "classic" Dragoons did in fact work with Wyverns and wasn't just a random thing SE pulled out in XI.

Stealing this thought from an LS member: I think I'd be okay with using a WS (Doomspike II for example's sake), and having a dragon come out as part of the animation. Or a dragon appears for the animations when DRG does combos to do a little extra damage or just make the attack look cooler.
Either way, I'd prefer for DRG not to be a pet class.
