That's a bit woah XD how about something more simple, like Raen background. During X era, Keepers moved to the north due to their more secluded nature where they were caught in the Garlemald technological revolution. Some entered in their ranks while try to survive in the more harsh Ilsabard areas.

I can see a possible "new Scion friend" being male and having some rivalmance with Thancred maybe? would be fun!
