I think this is the best MCH has ever played.

My only wishes at this point is for a little more damage. At least at or above BRD.
Honestly with as little utility as we provide, I would expect DPS approaching BLM and SMN. I think I would prefer that anyway. MCH just doesn't seem like a "support" class like BRD, in neither design nor lore. It should really just be DPS focused. If any class design is begging for the support treatment, it's RDM.

My partner mains BLM, and she's pretty excited to try out the changes. She was considering dropping BLM for the SAM she just got to 70, but the recent changes have made the decision harder.

I'm honestly having a hard time telling if the bad taste in my mouth from the changes are from the actual changes- or that we're forced to unlearn all of our ingrained heat management tendencies for a minimal damage buff overall.

It just feels like it's an attempt to get new people to play MCH with the "easier" heat management, when in reality it seems like the people who play MCH have always been playing MCH because they enjoy the archetype over Bows. So it's essentially uprooting what little playerbase MCH has, forcing them to relearn a lot of ingrained stuff and there's no payoff for SE or us because I doubt too many new players will look at these changes and go "Oh wow, I better hop on this bandwagon quick!" while the MCH players get a teensy DPS increase.

With the community reaching the (correct) consensus that there's no reason to take a MCH over a BRD now. I heavily doubt many new players will play MCH at all.

It starts at level 30 basically having people go back to level it, requires the MSQ to unlock, and is considered inferior to the other option for that slot.

True true! But even when MCH was top dog it's playerbase could never touch the likes of RDM or SAM. A lot of people don't like gun classes in their swords/magic/bows fantasy games and that's just a natural truth to it. There's just no reason to harm the existing MCH player base to cull new MCH's because anybody who was going to be a MCH was probably gonna end up there anyways. They probably lost a few seasoned MCH with this, funnily enough.

Personally never mastered the "New" 4.0 MCH yet so the heat change doesn't affect me as much (Yet) thou I have noticed I don't overheat as often now as I see overheat as something not to do ever... not even for Wildfire, I honestly miss 3.0 MCH, caster MCH was fun... but quess I gota learn the "new/better" MCH even if it feals like crap, is MCH the only class that gets punished for actually reaching 100 on their job gauge? (so far I've seen PLD,MNK,AST,WHM,SAM & RDM don't)

SAM: Outdpses MCH. Has a DoT with Lead Shot's old potency (then, the highest DoT), and twice the duration.
BRD: Outdpses MCH. Has 2 DoTs with a literal reset switch (for those that complain of MCH too easy/boring)

. . . Give us back Lead Shot please.

BRD, sorry, Archer starts at 1 if anyone's never touched it. And I want to laugh at that "correct consensus" bit, but you were serious. I suppose it's easy to let metas decide for you. I mean, why should anyone think or choose anything for themselves in this game, right?

Welp, can't wait til 5.0/6.0 and some other ranged is added, then suddenly "No one will ever bring a BRD. . ."

Approaching sure, but not exactly their numbers. Being able to shoot on the move is a huge advantage, so SMN and BLM should always be ahead because of the cast times involved. BLM is my main, and playing MCH with the heat gauge is definitely a lot easier then min/maxing my BLM.
