Souleater healing being applied, even if only partially, when out of Grit.

This is how Syphon Strike is working at the moment for our MP sustain, why can't it be like this for Souleater as well? Maybe making it heal for 50% of damage dealt outside of Grit, and 100% in Grit. I understand they supposedly don't want tanks tanking in DPS stance, but the current state of Souleater sustain is pretty disappointing.
